Souleymane Coulibaly is eager to make his mark at Tottenham

Souleymane Coulibaly is hoping that he will be given an opportunity to showcase his talent at Tottenham Hotspur next season.

Spurs swooped for the teenage striker in July 2011 after seeing him shine for the Ivory Coast at the U17 World Cup.

He was snapped up with one eye on the future, with the Premier League outfit keen to nurture his raw ability before unleashing him on the English top-flight.

Part of that plan has included a loan spell at Grosseto, with Coulibably currently plying his trade in Serie B.

The 18-year-old feels he has already improved during his short time in Italy and has aired his ambition to make a positive impact at White Hart Lane in 2013/14.

He said: "I am working hard and having to learn the hard way.

"I want to make my name at Spurs next season or in the future, but I have to bide my time because there are some top players in the Premier League in my position.

"Coming here has taught me a lot and hopefully the experience will serve me well in the future."

Interesting that Shaquille Coulthirst is included in the squad for tomorrow's game.

Possibly a better prospect that Coulibaly?

Would be good if we had a couple kids on the bench and then if we're still level (on the night) after 60 mins, we bring then on. No reason why 2 of the 7 subs cant be kids - most likely would be midfielders (Luongo perhaps?) given that we only play 1 up top and Adebayor and Defoe can share the 90 mins

Coulibaly is still very raw. Coulthirst is a little more well-rounded atm from what I've heard.

When I've seen Mason I've been very impressed by his technique, but he is a bit of a lanky beanpole like Gylfi and it may just be that he is not physically up to the PL yet and doesn't show that burst of acceleration that is so useful for AMs. He's also been very, very unfortunate with injuries. Carroll is tiny too but he probably has a lower center of gravity thanks to his relative shortness and that may help a bit.

Charlton manager baffled by losses at home. Maybe keeping Obika on bench while you are not scoring might give a clue.
Same game Adam Smith comes on as a sub on 17 mins after not featuring for a few games. That is a worry.
There is player called Trotter who plays for Millwall.

More likely because all the players ahead of him in the queue were injured or out on loan, both Obika and Coulibaly (in addition to Kane of course) out on loan and two first team striker options injured.

Have anyone read anything about why Smith has been benched for some games now? Could it just be that they are stuck in mid table and so would rather develop their own players rather than develop Smith for us?

Not the best goal from Townsend yesterday, but good to see him get another one, saw someone say that he had a good game too. A couple of goals should probably ensure plenty of game time for him for the rest of the season.

Yes, that's very possible. But I still wonder whether Coulthirst might not be a better prospect than Coulibaly. He has certainly scored a lot more than Coulibaly in the various age groups over the past couple of years.

Chelsea's U-19s beat Juventus 4-1 in the NextGen Series Quarter Final yesterday and they advance to the Semi-Finals, to be played at Lake Como.

Tottenham play Sporting Clube on Wednesday 20th March at Leyton Orient (KO 19:00).

SPURS LOAN WATCH:

Adam Smith enjoyed a 75-minute stint for Millwall - and his return might just be timed to perfection.

On the bench for Millwall's last two fixtures, the full-back was called into the action early in the Championship derby at Charlton on Saturday when he replaced Karleigh Osbourne.

He came on at left-back and went close to opening the scoring in first half injury time, firing just wide from the edge of the box.

Millwall went ahead on 57 minutes and Adam was then brought down midway in Charlton's half, allowing Shane Lowry to curl the free-kick into the top corner for 2-0.

Adam - now on England U21 duty - will hope to hold onto his place as Millwall prepare to face Wigan in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday, April 13.

Jon Obika was an unused substitute at The Valley.

Staying in the Championship, Harry Kane came off the bench in the 69th minute as Leicester suffered a 2-1 defeat at Derby.

Andros Townsend continues to impress in QPR's fight for survival in the Premier League.

The winger - also on England U21 duty - fired home the equaliser at 2-2 in a crucial encounter at Villa Park. However, Villa hit back again to take three valuable points thanks to Christian Benteke's winner nine minutes from time. Simon Dawkins was an unused substitute for Villa.

Staying in the Premier League, Danny Rose - another player with England U21s - was back in the Sunderland starting line-up and played 90 minutes as the Black Cats drew 1-1 against Norwich City.

In Spain, Iago Falque was denied one-on-one at 3-1 as Cordoba beat Almeria 4-1 in the Segunda Division.

Heurelho Gomes kept a clean sheet as Hoffenheim drew 0-0 against Mainz in the Bundesliga and John Bostock played another 90 minutes for Toronto FC in the MLS, this time his side lost 2-1 to Montreal Impact in front of over 38,000 fans in Montreal.

In France, Ryan Mason was an unused substitute as L'Orient beat Brest 4-0 in Ligue 1 and that was the case for Bongani Khumalo as PAOK beat Panathinaikos 2-0 in the Greek Super League.

Just a timely reminder that Spurs U19s take on Sporting Clube of Portugal in the NextGen Series Quarter Final at Leyton Orient's Matchday Stadium in about 2 1/2 hours from now (KO 19:00 UK).

Keep your eyes peeled on Eurosport, as they are supposed to be covering the game live.

At the same time, Aston Villa play Olympiakos at Villa Park.

Sadly, Eurosport don't appear to be covering it. Showing an U19 match between Germany and Spain on Eurosport 1 and basketball on Eurosport 2.
