The 2013-14 " Lawro the Twunt says..." thread

Tottenham v West Brom

I know Tim Sherwood, having played with him at Portsmouth and he is a winner, so I'm glad he has been given a chance and I think he will do well as head coach and get a win against West Brom. Tim has put Adebayor back in the team which means Spurs can beat anybody - for three weeks! After that he will rest up, believe he is a great player and we won't see him again for three months. You can write his story every year.

PAUL PREDICTS: 2-0

Is this Paul Merson? He always speaks well of us considering his background whenever Ive seen him on Soccer Saturday....

Let's hope we do beat everyone in the next 3 weeks then, including Manu and the ****.

Tottenham Hotspur v Stoke City (Sunday, 16:00 GMT)

New Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood has been talking so much about playing attacking football that he really has to do it now, and see where it takes him.

I think a lot of what he has been saying is for the benefit of the fans, but Sherwood clearly has a way he wants to play.

So what he will be trying to do is establishing the base of his team and building things from there.

What he needs to do first is sort out his defence and that means moving Jan Vertonghen back to centre-back from left-back where he has been for most of the season.

Sherwood needs a rock at the back. Vertonghen can play at left-back but he is far better in the centre so get him back there and get the spine of his team sorted.

Sandro is injured at the moment but when he is fit again, Sherwood needs to choose between him and Paulinho to sit in front of the back four and, in terms of having a more attacking outlook, I think it is a case of him playing an extra attacking midfielder.

Stoke were a bit unlucky to get two men sent off in their 5-1 defeat by Saudi Sportswashing Machine on Boxing Day but what did not help was seeing their manager Mark Hughes sent to the stands after Glenn Whelan's dismissal reduced them to 10 men.

It is very difficult then for Hughes to tell his players to use their brains and be careful because he has just shown his frustration himself.

It was just one of those games that they just need to forget and move on. They will have a point to prove at White Hart Lane but I cannot see them stopping Spurs.

Lawro's prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Stoke City

I love how clued up he is. :ross:

Man Utd v Tottenham (17:30 GMT)

I will be at this game and it will be interesting to see whether Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood sticks to his guns and goes on the attack.

Sherwood has done well since taking over, winning two and drawing one in the league, and there is not too much wrong with his squad.

United will be attacking too, though, and they are building up a bit of a head of steam with six straight wins in all competitions, including four in a row in the league.

They got wins at Hull and Norwich over Christmas without playing well and, at Carrow Road, without Wayne Rooney or Robin van Persie.

It is those sort of games that build confidence and United boss David Moyes will be happy with the way his side have responded since losing two home games in a week at the start of December.

United have got all the teams above them looking over their shoulders and I think their winning run will continue here.

Lawro's prediction: 2-1

Arsenal v Tottenham (17:15 GMT)

With Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner injured, Arsenal are short up front - they only really have Lukas Podolski left to lead their attack.

Tottenham are doing well under Tim Sherwood and picked up a great win over Manchester United on New Year's Day.

Yes, Spurs got lucky with a couple of decisions at Old Trafford but maybe the ball is bouncing in their favour at the moment.

Sherwood's side might need some more good fortune at The Emirates Stadium, and it will be very close, but I think they might just nick it.

Lawro's prediction: 1-2

I bet he cried into his beer the day we beat utd, he even went to the game to watch us get spanked. How about you eat sh*t you TWUNT

To be fair, not the daftest prediciton he has ever made, I havent known us produce such a great run of form away from home.
IIRC this season our away record in all competitions is P15 W12 D1 L2. That is some going whover the oppositon is.

Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace

New Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has kept his promise because Spurs have become more attack-minded in the last few weeks.

I saw them win at Old Trafford on New Year's Day and they were better than Manchester United in that game, although they were rather fortunate that keeper Hugo Lloris got away with his foul on Ashley Young inside the area.

We have seen how competitive Crystal Palace have been under Tony Pulis and I don't think there is a harder working team than them in the Premier League.

For Spurs, a lot depends on whether Sherwood can keep Emmanuel Adebayor playing well but I would back them to get three more points here.

Lawro's prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Crystal Palace

I swear that he just predicts the most common score lines and hopes for the best. After all, more likely to win points that way than trying to predict the rarer 5-0s etc

Still he's a big twunt

The way to make a little money or lose very little money is to keep expecting the same things to happen every week.

The way to win a LOT of money is..........

He's gone for eight 2-0s this weekend

Yeah, his reasoning usually has very little to do with the actual games.

I'm backing the Twunt. Anything to get rid of this avatar and go back to my classy, tasteful original.

Any predictions with scores have to be specific. Eight 2-0 results is still more likely than seven 2-0 and one 4-7.

Predictions with scores is rather silly anyway, right winner or a draw would be just as good.

Villa to get a point at home against **** and both Chelsea and City to get comfortable away wins? Someone is obviously no paying attention to teams' forms.
