Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

To be honest he hasn't really confirmed much there despite all the questions..

Vertonghen should be OK
Doesn't know about takeover/investment
Modric will go to highest bidder
New manager is all done. (it's def not Martinez)
Sturridge unlikely even though he prefers London to Liverpool

Is he saying that AVB and Sturridge don't get on then? Strange as he played near enough every game under AVB and did well then got dropped when Di matteo came along.

people who don't want sigurdsson are departed. he's a freak! and would destroy it in our style of play. especially if we can keep hold of modders to create him chances.

sigurdsson 4.5
verts 3.5

even if true , how can you make such a sweeping statement like that? There could be valid reasons why people dont want him

Affy, that's a fair enough point, but so far those who don't want him seem to be using one of two arguments.

1) He's not a priority.

So? If we sign him first it's "Why didn't we sign a striker before him?" if we sign him last it's "We've left it too late, he'll take a month to bed in." Load of nonsense.

2) He's played for Reading, Swansea and Hoffenheim, he can't POSSIBLY be good.

Need I explain why that's insane?

i see what you mean, but then at the same time point one kind of makes sense. the reason i say this is because it so reminds me of the days we kept on buying midfieldeer upon midfielder yet refused to buy anyone for the defense of striker positions

point 2 doesn't make sense i agree.

still to call everyone that doesnt want him departed is a bit much

oh come now! are you really that sensitive? it was said with tongue firmly in cheek. sheesh, political correctness run amok....

anyone who is against signing gylfi is silly. stupid. deluded. misinformed. better?

I get the feeling that Levy's buying less because he can and more because he's already received the new manager's preferred targets. With the Sigurdsson deal in particular, if it does goe through, I could see him slotting perfectly into the three-man midfield in a classic 'Mourinho' 4-3-3. The three midfielders in Mou's system at Chelsea were a mainly defensive midfielder, a box-to-box playmaker and a goal-scoring forward midfielder. Sandro, Modric(or Sahin/anyone else) and Sigurdsson would fit those roles perfectly.

All will be revealed, I suppose, but it is looking increasingly likely that we will be appointing AVB. The players we're targeting, they fit perfectly into his preferred system.

why would i be sensitive to that? its funny but you're actually more worried about the word departed as opposed to the one off hard ruling that everyone that doesnt agree with you is departed.

even more impressive is you go on cement your place and say that anyone who is against gylfi is stupid and deluded. which is actually funny.

it must be a culture thing. cause i dont quite get that one.

but Rafa's set pieces did tinkle on everyone else's.. doesn't neccesarily mean his set pieces are great ;)

If we were THAT bad we'd be scoring 100-yard own goals from our own corners every week. :D

(Note to Football Gods; this does not imply that I want that to happen at any point in the future.Never.)

If Sahin and Sigurdsson are indeed targets then i think you're on to something. Put it this way, if we sign them two and play those two as well as either Parker or Sandro for the defensive role then i'd be far more optimistic about the prospect of AVB managing us (and you probably get it that i really don't want AVB).
