Its been common practice for years for players/agents/clubs to manufacture links to Spurs with their players to facilitate moves/new contracts etc

yeah but at least we had mangers in place then

how can any link to Spurs be taken seriously when no-one is in charge of the footballing side at the club, not even a coach on the premises

The scum have sold off their last big property development project:

Cash injection for Arsenal ahead of new season

Arsenal Football Club has announced that its property arm has sold a section of the Queensland Road development site next to its Emirates Stadium to Barratt and London & Quadrant.

The deal is worth UK?26 million and will be reflected in the club's 2012/13 financial results. The sale was completed by the Premier League soccer team's property arm, Ashburton Trading Ltd, who were represented by its property development partner Antony Spencer.

The UK?128 million development has been in progress for over a year. When complete, it will comprise three residential towers. The development will also include two fitness suites, a landscaped podium garden, commercial premises and a cafe. Sales are expected to launch in September.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “This is another important milestone for our property business which has provided a consistent flow of income over recent years. This money has been an important factor at a time when we have been building our capability to drive commercial revenues. This is the last major property deal open to us although we have some smaller projects in the pipeline.”

West Ham flop Pablo Barrera is set to return to his native Mexico and sign for the Cruz Azul club.

Winger Barrera, now 25, joined the Hammers in July 2010 for ?4million from his homeland's Club Universidad Nacional.

But the Mexico international has made just six league starts for the Upton Park club.

He was loaned out to Spanish side Real Zaragoza last season following Hammers' relegation to the Championship and is now set to leave permanently this summer to join Mexico City side Azul.

Paulo Freitas @Cynegeticus
L.Dami?o reaffirmed today at 'Arena Sportv' that he wants to stay at#Internacional until 2014 and that only#THFC made an offer for him.

Akqayid:

As I've said all long. There's lots happening and I can say that come 1st-7th July they'll be lots happening

It's a great time to be a yid

Just out of curiosity does anyone know when the players are due back for pre-season?

Am guessing that's likely to give us a bit of a clue of when we can expect movement on the management & coaching team front, everyone seems to have picked up on the beginning of july for transfers as well, am assuming this is all sort of linked to the AVB rumors.

2 weeks time IIRC - 9 July or something.

After 75+ pages (at 40 posts per page that's 150 pages here) they have now come to the conclusion that Sigurdsson is average and mighty Liverpool can do better.

I can't see why he wouldn't choose us. But then again I am not him.

Hed better be good after this lengthy process

He need to warm up to our system/style of play. Expect him to be lukewarm at first.

Spurs are nothing but a johnny come lately club. They will go into free fall next season.

I'm not really arsed in all honesty, whether he comes or not, he's not the level of player that makes or breaks your transfer window.

That'd be a pretty big snub if true.

We've finished below Spurs the last 3 years haven't we? That can only go on so long before players see them as a better option.

Oh good GHod. Get a grip mate.

It's really not. He'd be nailed on to play every week and replace Modric at Spurs, the latter of which he ain't good enough to do. Here he'd be in competition for a place and there has been a rot allowed to permeate over the last few seasons.

would/should have signed by now if he was keen to come here / hook up with Rodgers again ....obviously a ringpiece....if he wants to go to Spurs fudge him

fudge him
we'd be better with him, but if he's not committed to what we're doing, dont chase him
fudging spurs ... please

really says something when players are choosing spurs ahead of us.

Not sure why people are getting their panties in a bunch over this. Decent player but nothing more imo.

Edin Dzeko's proposed move from Emirates Marketing Project to Bayern Munich is in doubt after the German giants made a bid for Wolfsburg striker Mario Mandzukic.

With Ivica Olic leaving for Wolfsburg this summer, the Champions League runners-up are looking to add another striker to their ranks to offer Mario Gomez competition for his place.

Dzeko - who enjoyed success in Germany with Wolfsburg from 2007 to 2011 - was Bayern's main target until Mandzukic's three goals for Croatia at Euro 2012 alerted their interest.

Giant Bosnian Dzeko enjoyed a fruitful start to last season, but fell out of favour as City's title challenge stuttered.

He did net the late equaliser against QPR on the final day of the season to lay the platform for Sergio Aguero's title-clinching goal, but the 26-year-old is now deemed surplus to requirements by manager Roberto Mancini as he looks to revamp his squad over the summer.

Mandzukic, rated at ?7million, is also wanted by Everton, but he is likely to prefer the option of Champions League football with Bayern.

Marin and Hazard didn't mind. Happens all the time

Marin was linked and signed whilst Chelsea has a manager

Hazard was linked whilst they had a manager and for the few weeks they didnt he then signed, but all the speculation was there before as i said. Plus Hazard was pimping himself everywhere, to many clubs

What im saying is different. All along, its pretty much seemed a done deal for Sigurdsson to go to Liverpool once Rodgers went there. One club interest, and of course that is no good for an agent trying to negotiate a contract. So yes, the agent would want to invent some fictitious interest from another club in order to create a bit of nervousness in the Liverpool minds and thus Liverpool are forced to offer more money to the player and agent. So with all this in mind, surely its better to use a club that has a manager, is stable, and appears more realistic as a move to create that competition???? There would be no need to use Tottenham as the club if Tottenham were not showing any interest, especially so late in the negotiations and with Tottenham in a bit of disarray off the field. To me it would make no sense

Thats why in this case there genuinely must be some interest from Tottenham and its not just the agent using our name to bump up Sigurdsson's contact at Liverpool. Imv anyway

another great comment from Rawk.....

Before we were even linked with him a few Icelanders on here have said he's a huge Manc, he apparently said he'd rather work for his dads fishing company than play for us etc etc, us v Swansea might make him think but another decent team coming in and he was always going to go there.

:D

those Liverpool fans put a lot of faith in some wannabee internet journo called Duncan Jenkins ( where is Duncan, what is he saying, come on Duncan, why hasnt Gylfi signed yet etc etc etc) and a BBC journo called Ben Smith who seems to provide constant tweets about all sorts of cr*p. Both are Liverpool fans by the way and both have been 100% convinced, even until last night, that Gylfi was on his way to Anfield. Lets see what their updates are this morning after being bombarded by pi$$eed off pool fans
