Squad for 2015-16 season

With Vlad gone I make that a squad of 24 so must be space to bring someone in now. I'd be interested in how much our wage bill has decreased lately. I know we've added a few but those that have left must have been on a bit.

Someone had done a blog post on the wages savings, I'll see if I dig it up.

Because the season starts next week mate. Panic isn't the word I would use, but our rivals have arguably all strengthened to a stronger degree than us.

I'm guessing that part of our plan to get stronger this season is for our younger players to continue developing and improving after a year of PL experience behind them. Also remember that we won't have as much uncertainty as we did at the start of last season as a lot of the questions surrounding the "much of a muchness players" has been sorted out.

Kane had an exceptional goal return last season and of course we can't demand, or possibly even expect, him to keep it up. But I would expect him to keep playing well. I would also expect more, and more consistency from players like Bentaleb, Mason, Lamela and possibly even Eriksen and Chadli.

Also we've strengthened our squad options even just with Pritchard coming back. Last season when we looked to the bench for an option for one of the Lamela-Eriksen-Chadli trio the name that popped up was usually Townsend's. Now we have him and Pritchard. Add a striker making more of an impact than Ade/Soldado did last season and a midfielder and we'll look potentially a lot better.

A sustained top 4 challenge will depend on a lot of young players performing. That's by design though, and comparing us to the other top 4 teams with much greater budgets in that regard is probably not fair.

have you ever watched him or just judging him due to his attitude?
Yes of course I have watched him. I just have never rated him at all and thought he was particularly poor when QPR went down. The fact that I think he is a knob is incidental.

I count 28 now.

That's not including any academy players who've been in the squad (McGee, Veljkovic, Winks, Onomah, Oduwa, Coulthirst), but does include those over 21 who need to be named in the 25 (Fredericks and Hall)

Lloris
Vorm

Walker
Trippier
Rose
Davies
Yedlin
Fredericks

Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Wimmer
Dier
Fazio
Hall

Bentaleb
Mason
Alli
Carroll

Lamela
Townsend
Eriksen
Pritchard
Chadli
Dembele
Lennon

Kane
Soldado
Adebayor

The 5 I've emboldened are surely leaving, and Carroll probably too

Since some are still eligible as U21 it means there's room to register new players. Especially with more leaving either permanently or on loan. What Poch wants or likes is immaterial.

Yeah - we've got 3 U21s (Dier, Bentaleb and Alli), leaving us 25 overage players (limit 25) and now only 13 O/S players (limit 17)

And now Grant Hall has gone we're down to 23 over 21s.
I guess they'll be the ones used in pre-season friendlies but don't the club usually make an official announcement of the players' squad numbers?

They did announce that the numbers used in the All-Star game were not final.

Yeah - 23 over 21s, but still a squad of 26 - as Dier, Bentaleb and Alli are obviously very much senior players.

Ade, Soldado and Lennon will obviously go, and I guess some of Fazio, Dembele and Carroll are still possibilities if the right offer comes in (especially with Winks and Onomah's increasing involvement re the latter two).

I'm really pleased to see the squad being put into a nice trim shape. It has been far too baggy for far too long

New signings Toby Alderweireld, Kieran Trippier and Kevin Wimmer have taken numbers 4, 16 and 27 respectively, while Dele Alli has been allocated number 20.

A number of players have elected to change their squad numbers from last season.

Nabil Bentaleb will wear number 6, Ryan Mason moves to number 8 and Harry Kane will take number 10.

Lennon and ade without numbers

I cannot believe Harry has changed his number. Number 18 brought him a lot of luck and goals. Klinsmann and Defoe also did well with that number for Spurs

yeah, im a bit superstitious ;)

fair play to Eriksen, he could have demanded a lower number than 23 but he has stuck with it. Its worked well for him at Spurs
