Tottenham Working to Sign Second Brazilian Star Alongside Savinho in January

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to sign Brazilian left-back Souza from Santos during the January transfer window after reports from his home nation, according to journalist Tom Barclay.

According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs, Spurs could make a second move to try and bring Emirates Marketing Project winger Savinho to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month to strengthen Thomas Frank's attacking options, having failed to agree a deal during the summer.

The City forward has been described as a 'dream' target to replace Brennan Johnson, who completed his switch to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace on Friday.

But Savinho might not be the only Brazilian player who the north Londoners attempt to sign in the next few weeks, with interest in the 19-year-old Santos player confirmed.

Tottenham Keen to Sign Souza

Reports from Brazil in recent hours had alluded to Tottenham's interest in the teenage full-back, with suggestions they've even made an official bid for his services.

While Barclay hasn't confirmed if things have gone that far, the Sun journalist says Spurs do have an interest in bringing the 'gem' to the club in the next month.

Despite his tender years, Souza has already made 38 appearances for Santos - who Neymar also represents - scoring one goal and providing four assists.

Souza Has Been Heavily Praised

Interest from Tottenham and other clubs is no surprise given the rave reviews Souza has been getting in his homeland.

According to scout Antonio Mango, the defender has a 'sweet left foot' and has been described as enthusiastic, tenacious, aggressive and energetic.

Meanwhile, South American football journalist Nathan Joyes believes that the 'athletic' teenager's attacking numbers would drastically improve if he was part of a better squad.

Tottenham Need More Depth at Left-Back

Tottenham's current options at left-back are Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies and Djed Spence, although the latter's natural position is on the opposite flank.

With Davies' contract expiring at the end of June and with the Welshman looking set to depart, it is no surprise to see that the north London outfit may be looking to bring in a new player.

With a left-back and an attacker on the agenda, it could be a busy month of incomings for Tottenham as they look to push themselves up the Premier League table and boost their Champions League hopes in the second half of the season.

Tottenham makes proposal for Souza and Santos demands R$ 110 million

The player is considered one of the main targets of European football in this window; in addition to Spurs, Milan and Chelsea monitor the situation

Tottenham try to sign Souza, from Santos

Tottenham is one of the clubs interested in signing the young Souza, a full-back who belongs to Santos. The English team even formalized a proposal for the Brazilians, but the response was not positive.

According to information from journalist Lucas Musetti, after refusing the proposals of Milan and Chelsea, now it was the turn of the São Paulo team to refuse the proposal of Spurs.

The Premier League team did not come close to the figures that the São Paulo team is asking for the player. The club does not even intend to release the young talent in this ring.

Tottenham made a proposal for the full-back

According to the journalist, Santos wants to receive something around 17 million euros (approximately R$ 110 million, at the current exchange rate) to release the left-back to European football.

"The official proposal that arrived at Santos in the last few days was from Tottenham and the SFC asked for 17 million euros for 70% of the economic rights. And Tottenham's proposal didn't come close to that," said Lucas Musetti.

Souza has a contract until 2028 with Santos

Souza has a contract with Santos until December 2028. The left-back became the team's starter in the final stretch of last season and has already aroused the interest of several teams.

In the European press, the young man is already highly praised, with comparisons with Marcelo, former Fluminense and Real Madrid idol. He was appointed as the 'natural heir' of the former player in the Brazilian National Team.

I must be doing something wrong when googled RS110 in pounds it said 80 million clearly not. Thanks for the clarification

£81 million according to The Athletic. But perhaps that was just to put other teams off.

Looks like a refreshing approach from the ‘new regime’; taking a gamble on a 19 year old who’s PL unproven and has played less than 30 games in the Brazilian league.
