Lloris 7 made a couple of good saves, distribution was better today.
Naughton 7 made a couple of good blocks, affected us when he went off.
Kaboul 6 a bit of everything from him today, good and bad.
Vertonghen 7 didn't really notice him, which is a good thing when referring to our defenders.
Rose 8 Really got up and down, very persistent and dare I say it passionate.
Capoue 6 Meh, was okay,
Mason 5 Game passed him by, struggled to get involved.
Chadli 6 not at the races for most of the first half, fine assist.
Eriksen 7 well taken goal.
Lamela 6 still not really affecting games, loses possession too much.
Adebayor 5 Ran around a lot.

Lloris - Solid as always

Whole defence was good.

Capoue excellent

Didn't notice Mason much, but we seemed to have a bit more intent in our forward passing today compared to earlier games

Ade - Jogged around a bit, lost some headers, caught offside a few times, struggled to control the ball.

Rest of the attack all played well in periods, though not so much as a unit.

Did you actually watch the game?

5/6 for mason/Copoue is ridiculous - they dominated 1st half, and although they tired in the 75th min when Southampton started to have chances, there was really only 1 clear cut chance.

The team pressing on display was excellent, and there isn't anyone in the team deserving less then a 7 for their effort for the full match. We are starting to see glimpses of how Tottenham will play under poch, but the hardest test is maintaining that over successive games.

As for Ade 5 - you gave Chadli a "fine assist" yet failed to notice the hard work was done by Ade down the left, who then knocked the ball into Chadli for a layoff. Really wish some spurs fans will take their prejudices away and actually rate players on that game not on past reputations or previous performances.

Yes I saw the game and thought Mason barely got a look in. Capoue was okay. Adebayor had one positive moment for the whole game, so I think giving him a 5 was generous. What was this "fine work down the left"? You mean where he lost possession or gave away a free kick? He does this sort of thing every week and it has no positive influence on our results. Why does he insist on always going on a little run and trying to beat a man when he takes possession? Why is he incapable of just laying the ball off? I think he has had three genuine shots on target for the whole season, so his reputation is not up to much.

Agree 100% - esp towards Ade is has become disgraceful

Thought defence played well - kaboul looks more imposing.

Mason was good - a lot of what he did went under the radar but often e played a past first time or only took a touch and that allowed us to feed the ball into our dangermen earlier and as a result our tempo was much better. Also him and capoue look forward early which makes a difference.

Capoue excellent.

Lamela was positive and he almost had an excellent game. Chadli could be our Kuyt and yet again he impacts on the game.

Erisken was poor apart from his goal.

Ade was off the pace bar a good 20min spell

Well said

Defence was great bar the odd slices clearance

Capoue and Mason were excellent. Mason passed first time so often you didnt have time to notice him u less your seat is at a good eye level. Capoue owned Schneiderlain and Wanyama and its why we won the game IMO

Chadli looked fracture when he used his size and pace

Only negative was lamella for me who was on the fringes and had his worse game this season for us

Lamela not affecting games? Ffs he ran himself ragged for 90 minutes, harassed, closed down and pressed the **** out of them today! He forced a save from their goalie and drove us forward when he got the ball. Ok, a few times he was dispossessed and out muscled but that'll get better if he strengthens his upper body.

I had a feeling this match would divide opinion across the board. A lot of the players had good spells and bad spells in the match.

Lloris - 7 - Not much to do but did it well
Naughton - 7 - Solid, supported well, some important tackles
Kaboul - 7 - Marshalled the defence well, got involved, tried to command the area and largely succeeded
Vertonghen - 7 - Smooth operator
Rose - 7 - Did well bombing up and down the left flank
Capoue - 7 - Controlled the midfield, worked really hard and used the ball well
Mason - 7 - Calm performance in midfield, switched play well, intelligent use of the ball and good understanding with Capoue
Lamela - 8 - Worked his socks off, drove us forward, ran himself into the ground and just kept driving at them
Eriksen - 8 - Upped his work-rate from previous games, got the goal, had a few other shots, looked the threat he looked last season
Chadli - 7 - Like all the rest of the team ran himself into the ground, good pass for the goal
Ade - 7 - Worked like a warrior, never let their defence settle

Great performance which basically IMO stifled and overwhelmed Southampton who had come into the game in great form. They barely had a sniff all match bar that chance near the end.

You must have been watching a different game.
Mason barely a look-in??
Capoue OKAY????

This could be developed into comic material.

The 'fine work down the left' was the build-up play by Adebayor which led directly to our goal. He had more of a hand in us scoring than Chadli did.
He was much better in his application today harrying the opposition from the front and also dropping back to support our midfielders in the pressing game.

Yep exactly - This game worried me more then most, we have struggled severely against teams that have pressed us high up the pitch, and there are not many currently that do that better then Southampton, on current form we should have lost, but seemingly out of nowhere that performance happened, passing was quicker (I think even the commentator had to say that 3/4 times), was more of a desire to work for it across the board. Maybe something has clicked, maybe this is another false dawn, maybe because it was Southampton they tried harder - that I don't know, but if we perform pressing that hard we will cause teams like City who struggle against Southampton, something to think about.

lloris - 7

naughton - 7
kaboul - 7
vertonghen - 7
rose - 8

lamela - 7
capoue - 7.5
mason - 7
chadli - 7.5

eriksen - 7.5
adebayor - 7

Everyone worked their socks off today - a good team display.

Special mentions for:

Kaboul - Superb last week and pretty decent this week - captaincy having a positive affect (Credit to Poch?)
Capoue - 2 decent games in a row - starting to impose a bit.
Lamela - Not involved in the goal but for the first time it looked as tho he's starting to have some urgency on the ball, some really nice crisp forward passing. Definitely one of his tidier games, and he really does work hard.

Well said! Not sure what game some on here we're watching. That was a very good team performance.

As I said, Adebayor had one effective moment, the simple ball he played into Chadli which led to Eriksen's goal-that was it! The rest was aimless huff and puff to no effect. Again, how many shots is this guy getting off per match? He is not up to it and must be replaced. You don't get marks for trying hard, which some of my critics must be doing regarding Ade's performance.
