Son Heung-Min

Been saying that all season. The signs were there last season too. He's a one good game in 4 player now. I think only a Saudi side would pay a decent fee for him though and i cant see him going there tbh.
Been a great player for us but hes never been an inspiring captain.
He is out of contract this summer
We ain’t getting a fee for him

Son will still be in demand though i think we will extend his contract by 1 year for merchandising revenue and to help Yang settle in.
If there were any player who could be a coach I would really like Son to succeed as one. Maybe he can ask his father for help in physical conditioning :)

So Forster apologises to his team mates for Thursday's shenanigans. Young Archie speaks up and shares the burden with the guy twice his age by calling out his own part of it. Great culture in the dressing room.

So tell me this. Has Sonny apologised to his team mates for yesterday's first goal? Has he shown any remorse for his pathetic defending?

This has been going on for years, and I'd be happy for him to be benched for the next game until he learns.

In principle absolutely. In numbers, and in our current moment, maybe not. He is entering the final stages of his top level career, that's for sure.

Let’s face it, the entire forward unit needs upgrading not just him, except maybe Solanke. Let’s hope we start to phase him out over this season and next and Mikey Moore takes his place.

One of the things I believe has been happening is precisely that but for some time. Ange wants more from the senior players.

I would also say the senior players (especially in the defensive areas) might want more from Ange than just "this is how we are"..

EDIT - Also, if Son (or any other senior player) aren't doing what he wants them to, he as the manager can drop them....

Really? it's December and

Johnson has 10 goals + 3 assists
Solanke has 10 goals + 5 assists
Son has 7 goals + 6 assists
Deki has 7 goals + 7 assists
Maddison has 8 goals + 5 assists

Spurs are 11th in league with most goals scored, the issue is not the front line

Son? guy that everyone thinks is washed up

Goals and assists aren't the issue, because we attack with 11 players. It's the defending with 9 or 10 that's the problem.

He is not a leader and we have always given the best players / fan favourites the Captains armband and this is one of the reason we bottle it so much. We need a proper general that not only motivates but digs deep and drags the team up in difficult moments. Viera, Keane, Rodri are all good examples of this and are the reason that their sides were so successful.

Kane, Son, Lloris all captains that went missing in big games and at big moments yet never got criticised or dropped even big bad Conte bottled it.

Yes the majority of Johnson’s goals are tap ins. Granted he has also scored with some very good finishes, but that for me papers over the cracks as his overall play is poor.

Solanke I said I’m happy with.

Kulu has been brilliant! Our best player by a mile! Although I see his best position as CM rather than as a winger.

Maddison, another CM.

The amount of goals we score is mostly IMO down to how gung ho we are rather than good forward play. Similar to how we concede so many goals, it doesn’t matter who plays back there, we are not setup to be solid defensively.

Could not agree more, i have never been a fan of goalkeepers being made capt [ to far away from most of the action] but Lloris was a waste of space as captain on the pitch.

The best captains are those who drive their players and team to higher standards and those three you mentioned did it in every game.

Johnson (at this stage of his career) is a limited player, but lets not pretend if another player (say Reguilon) was doing the exact same thing, he'd be bagging 10+ goals a season. Finishing is a rare skill.

Son is an elite player on the back end of his career, being overplayed and not in a system that exactly suits him and is still churning out the numbers.

Solanke and Deki are top tier (if not quite elite) PL players, I'd argue this seasons' version of Deki is elite (can he maintain/push on?)

Agree we need to be setup more defensively, but with that front line we can afford to be 10-15% less gung-ho and still score.
