Slingbox

Yeah, I'd only bother with a slongbox if you're going to use it on a TV somewhere, if you just want to hook up on mobile devices then most Sky users should Sky Go in their package, you can hook it up to two mobile devices, an Xbox and one or two laptops as well.

Doesn't Sky Go limit you to two devices only, of any type? I used it on my Xbox 360 and iPad at first, then when I tried to connect from my Mac it told me I had to remove one of the other two.

I've got an older slingbox that I've had for a few years connect to our second Sky box in the spare room and it's really good.

You can connect to it from anywhere in the world, Sky Go is just UK and Ireland unless you mess about with VPN services (too much trouble for me). You get full access to your home TV system, so you can watch any channel, watch stuff recorded on the Sky Box's hard disk, etc.. Used it quite a lot on holiday in America and various places in Europe, hasn't let me down yet.

But, if you're only going to use it in the UK and only on one or two devices, it's probably not worth it and you're better off sticking with Sky Go.

Ah, my bad, yeah, you're right, it's two devices. I'm pretty sure you get a few more PC/laptop options though (possibly even from any browser using silverlight?). As for using Sky Go abroad, it's not the cheapest way of doing it, but if you didn't want to commit to sling box and only use it abroad once in a blue moon, you can use something like VPN Fire and it'll give you a stable UK proxy that will allow proper streaming of Netflix/Sky Go.

Used it in Austria, it was pretty cool, sitting on top of a mountain, connected to their wifi watching Prem football on the phone.

You need to have good upload speed where your slingbox is located. Mine is only .75Mb and that's not good enough to watch football.
