Sky Broadband

Sky really are a bunch of ****s

I've had enough of these cretins

Their broadband is so fudging slow. Have decided to upgrade to Virgin fibre

In the meantime, does anybody know why I cannot get the router to work when I set it to a specific channel

I've found out that every fudger in my street is on channel 11 and channel 6, so wanted to switch to channel 1

When I do that, the broadband craps out and the wireless signal goes up and down

I tried rebooting the router, my laptop, turning on / off, getting windows to forget the network and recreating

fudging nothing works. Gone back to auto channel and it works fine, albeit slowly

haha I was about to change from Virgin to Sky too (as im in my new place)

I guess ill stick to virgin. Virging broadband is really good - not had any problems or issues.

Are you on the Sky Connect service?

Mate don't do it

Sky is the WORST broadband service I've had

And I've been through a few (Tiscalli, BT, O2, Homewotsits, Sky)

I've applied for my MAC code. Seriously considering getting rid of the TV too.

Sky ****S

Ive been with Sky for 18 months, my bill is no £85 a month..

Time to ring them up and ask for a reduction or ill leave..

Which department do you ring ???

Good luck getting your MAC from sky, they were really impossible with em when I cancelled SKY (all of it). In the end I had no broadband, even after phoning them and quoting the law etc. They just repeatedly said it had been requested when it hadn't.

Transfered to Orange, their broadband has been much worse for me... They are all low lifes.

I tried that, got half price for year! although they couldn't do any deals on the movies so just cancelled them as I can just stream anything from laptop for free anyway.

BeThere.

It's O2 but run by very different people and they have forums aimed at semi-techs.

The thing is all of the broadband services down the phone line use the same exchange, so surely the service is only as good as the exchange which are all run by openreach. I am on Virgin super fast nutter broadband so don't really have an issue.

I've got full sky HD package, phone & broadband and it's about £95.00 per month.

....and I'm happy with it too. :barnet:

The only differences between them are throttling, caps and customer service quality.

now it would obviously be illegal for BT to throttle other adsl providers customers in preference of their own so i'm sure that doesn't happen

:-"

When i first got Sky it was about £35 a month, its slowly slowly going up all the time. Im currently paying £75 and thats only cos i have my phone and broadband with TalkTalk. Its all way too much for TV, but i love my TV so just cant give it up. Virgin just dont have all the channels I like so im stuck paying over the odds. Well not stuck, but there are no other options that offer the same services.

This is what I have. Its slightly more expensive than others, but the service is excellent. Had no issues whatsoever in the 4 years since I joined them. Am I right in saying they have their own dedicated switches at the exchange? My neighbours are on sky broadband and their speeds are atrocious, while i receive 12-15mb on my 'up to 24mb' line.

They often do, but much of the difference is likely down to throttling.
