Set Pieces

Whilst they’ve always been important, and should have had so much more (or even just any) focus on them the last few seasons - the real helpful part at the moment is that these are bringing a gap whilst the team knits together.

I thought yesterday we played well but the attacking play, for obvious reasons, just hasn’t quite gelled yet. Simons, Kudus, Richy etc haven’t played together and need time to get their understanding. So if we can really capitalise on being effective at set pieces, we can be a threat and highly effective whilst that attacking instinct is sharpened. I’m personally loving seeing us take them seriously and use them well.

I agree, although sonny took a great corner
These are the fine margins frank said he would bring in early
The gain means he can focus on other things medium term
They're similar to 'plays' in American football. The drills are very black and white....so repetition doesn't take long and gets it engrained. So as you say, a good thing to getting going on as soon as TF was in the door

Today Liverpool huffed and puffed and couldn't create against Burnley.
In the final minute a MNU player Hannibal handballed it stupidly in the box, so Liverpool won.
But this is why set pieces are so vital, sometimes you come up against a well drilled defence and just can't break them down in open play, so it comes down to corners and long throws (and pens).

And defending them. If you score from them and don't concede from them. You'll finish a lot higher in the table.
