Savinho

Yeh I think its needed in that role in a Frank side, he is all about Flank pace and support in advanced areas. I don't think he is a bad player at all, just not sure he would be a fit.

I think we might get Eze but this deal is one that doesn't happen, not sure Emirates Marketing Project have a full appetite for it but could be wrong
I don’t see us getting both
Eze I finally see happening
Agency works
player what’s to join it seems
And we seem to be doing it the right way possibly
Savio is all about city getting a huge fee to buy Rodrygo
I get that for city as he adds goals and is a quality player a lot of the time

Saka is the nearest style wise and only because they are smaller left footed wingers.
His strength is his running with the ball and his crossing
I’m not sure he is great at ball retention yet and his finishing needs work
He is nowhere near the fee they want but do course they say they don’t want to sell
Actually Hudson Odoi would be similar or maybe even Garnacho (he is massively over rated)
I think the reported fee is about where it should be for him. He's a fantastic talent who is already proven at the highest level having turned 21 around the end of last season.
Feels like City don’t really want to sell, not sure how this gets done without a ridiculous fee?
Pep has a history of being really positive in the media about players he's about to sell.

I think they're willing to do business if they get an offer they see as acceptable. As they have been in the past for some really good players. What they see as acceptable is reflected in what they want for him though.

I must say I do like in general the willingness of the PL clubs to be pragmatic with their dealing this summer. It feels a lot more like the NBA, where teams have a really clear idea of how they want to play, and are willing to move big players on in order to be able to play the system they want.

Maybe PSR is helping but I think it makes it more exciting. A willingness to trade and take risks rather than just hold on to one player for as long as possible as if they’re the only possible difference maker for that club in the world.

Anyway…I hope we get Savinho and Eze. We would have played the market well and benefitted from our sustainability to allow us to make big moves in a summer where clubs are generally more open to pragmatism in player trading. I guess if City can really get Rodrygo then we’ll be able to get Savinho,

Would be an exceptional window

Started almost every game and (based on reports) was one of the best players in a Girona team that finished 3rd in La Liga scoring 9 and assisting 10 in the process. Was immediately and obviously picked up by one of the best teams in the world. That's at 19.

Started a bit over half the games in the league for said one of the best teams in the world in his first season. Playing well in the process, getting only one goal, but 8 assists. That's at 20.

He's not proven elite, world class or whatever. If he was the fee would be double what's being reported and they wouldn't sell. But he's very much a proven PL and CL level player.

If we sign him and start him in either of those competitions we're getting a player proven at that level as a very good player. One with the potential to push on from there to be even better.

Said it before, but this was the window where it finally made sense for us to be pushing the boat out on individual ready made players at a very high level because we have the foundations of the squad mostly in place.

Going from rebuild to redecorating. I very much share your hope.

I wouldn’t call him proven
I agree he has talent and would be a great addition
I just think the fee being asked is a tinkle take
Even more so when you look at how much city will be paying for Rodrygo who really is proven
£70m is elite player money
But of course it’s Still the realm of speculation we’re operating in

Guess it depends on who you compare him to. I would have little to no concerns about him being ready to perform at a good level in the PL and CL if we sign him, he's already done that, that's what I mean by proven.

70m imo isn't elite level money imo. Elite players go for way more on the rare occurrences they move for other reasons than contract issues, age etc. Unless you mean something a bit less with elite than what I read into it?

Doue went for less
In fact all the PSG team cost less
Kavashielle was less
In England…. Are there many other ide players who cost more?

Doue had two years left on his contract at Rennes and they were always going to sell. Doue is great, but wasn't at that time proven elite at the highest level.

Kvara wanted out at Napoli, refused to sign a new contract.

Unsurprisingly when those players became available for a reasonable fee they were snapped up by one of the richest clubs in the world immediately.

It's rare that the very best players move between big clubs. Had someone signed elite/peak level Salah, De Bruyne level players they'd go for a ton of money. So much that they rarely move.

You mean to England or between English clubs? Caicedo and Rice went for north of 100m? And they are fairly defensive midfielders, forwards typically cost more. Grealish? But had he been 21 at the time and as good he would have been significantly more expensive.

Caicidos price was an act of desperation
Turns out he was good but not beat in world good
Rice was well proven in this league
Cole Palmer would be a reference point for me. Left at 21 with 40 plus games for city and 6 goals
Also some great performances in their cup games
This fee would make him the main expensive winger in the league now I think (assuming Antony leaves)
Just doesn’t add up to me.
£40m yeah
£50m ok… it’s city
Your buying possibilities not guarantees but it’s guarantee money they want. It’s why they will sell if we pay that much. Every club would
As is at, he is like Hudson Odoi for me on last years level. If he wasn’t feeding Haaland he wouldn’t have the assist numbers.
But we will see if the club value him as high as city and some of our fans do
It ain’t my money to worry about

Don't think notts forest got the memo.

At this point, I reckon it's more about City's many moving transfer parts both directions (Donnarumma, Edersen, Rodrygo, Lewis, Simons etc) than it is about Spurs. They will have a picture in their head in what permutation Savinho goes. Trafford played today so I'm expecting the Edersen / Donnarumma switches to happen. Rico Lewis linked with Forest to join McAtee. Then there is Rodrygo of course. Even Xavi Simons is still linked.

There must be a permutation in their calculations that allows Sav to become a Spurs player and perhaps not for the stupid money being discussed. We're not that far along yet due to the other deals they're working on. In the mean time, the player is injured so the press get bored and just make stuff up to keep the story live.

I can't call this one.

Their permutation is every player will be replaced
They replaces Savio with rodrygo they likely win the league IMO… the additional goal threat is there

Indeed. Also just read an interesting article in The Telegraph about how the PL bubble might be bursting. In real terms the deals are less on a per match basis than 10 years ago, streaming companies not diving in as expected, viewership declining in international markets like the US. TNT happy to be a strong number two player in the UK, limiting the growth in domestic rights.

I say all of that to say, if we can really use this time to elevate ourselves as a club, because we’ve been sustainable when other clubs haven’t, then I’ll say bravo Levy. Especially if we get Eze and Savinho. I wouldn’t say we are a definite title challenger, but I think the window would be beyond expectations and the absolute best we could have done. We’d have the depth to compete in all competitions, and while the other top teams have also strengthened, I feel like we’ll be ‘up there’ competing at minimum.

Also, the idea that the PL bubble might be bursting and PSR having an impact makes me laugh a lot at Villa. I heard there were anti PSR chants today…have you ever heard of something so ridiculous? Just increase your revenues fairly and over the long term like we have guys…no one is saying you can’t invest heavily in your infrastructure. The complaining of not being able to run a cheat code really is pathetic. That was the other thing in this Telegraph article - it calls us out as being well placed to benefit because a relative decline in broadcast rights is going to put more importance on match day income.

Fingers crossed we’re well placed in all sorts of ways.

Villa are idiots. Learner overspent with them then got bored and stopped putting money in. They then spent years in the championship.

Do you think they would be petty enough to want to delay any possible transfer until after next weeks game against them?

I know its not at the same level of attention as Isak but It kind of feels like that is what is happening there, as they are playing each other next game and rumours are that Saudi Sportswashing Machine didn't want the PR or whatever with fans watching Isak running out at their gaff next weekend

Yes.
