It has been a fudging age since I logged on here but I was just wandering around aimlessly and stumbled across this (mostly because I was looking for awesome facts about Sandro).
I had a knee reco in December and they took the hamstring tendon out as the new ligament - which is standard fare for knee recos across the country here in Aus.
Apparently the idea of taking the graft from anywhere else is considered positively primitive by surgeons here, which is apparently the ACL capital of the world.
Anyway, not that I want to be taking the tinkle out of those who have had it the other way, but is this still standard in the UK?
Met the beast after the game and he is a legend in the making.
Said there was no way he was leaving (not that there are any rumours) and that we were the most drunk people in the stadium which is a grand endorsement

It's things like that that make me smile a little more today. =D>
Thank you for that.
Hamstring graft is 99% of knee recons in UK according to my uncle who used to be a surgeon. You aren't wrong about Australia being bad for sheer numbers, it's because AFL is so high impact at 360 degrees. 13 torn ACLs after five weeks of the season or something I read recently.
By the way took me a year to return to playing after mine. Get on the Pilates, that sorts it all out.
Ok, nice one. The figure is up to 17 after nine rounds in the AFL. They had 16 in all of last season. Ridiculous numbers.
My rehab is going ok, albeit slowly. Up to doing squats and lunges and all that brick. Desperate to start jogging but the physio reckons that's still a few weeks away. I keep having dreams where I'm running and playing sport ...
Im in my rehab after a ACL reconstruction too. Still doing Heavy weights, and not allowed to run. I feel you when you say you keep dream about running and doing sports...GHod i miss that!
Ill upload some of the photos Tomo.
What amazed me was how small he actually is cos he looks huge on the pitch

October ? Thought he will be ready for the start of next season. If he is going to be out that long, we will definately need to buy 1 or 2 top midfielders to partner Dembele. Don't think we can afford to start the season with only Parker or Hudd as partner to Dembele in midfield. Our poor start to this season cost us badly in the top 4 race. Hope we will be better prepared next season.
He had the operation in January if my memory serves correctly. Standard ACL recovery time is between 8 and 10 months, sometimes a little more, which sees him back around the October mark. I think that sounds about right.
 How far through are you (ie how long since your operation)? Any complications?
