Deadly? Maybe for the opposition, but certainly not for us. How many players and cover do you think Real Madrid or Barcelona or even Le Scum have? If there is one thing that Poch has gotten right it's having interchangeable players. With the exception of CF, we've got complete cover in every other position. And even CF I would argue is not as terrible as people make it out to be. Alli's goal tonight would have been enough to get us the 3 points and Kane's goals have been the deciding factor in only two games. So let's not get too carried away here.
 
Anyone STILL want him?

I'll be honest and say that I was very disappointed to miss out on him. Not because I think Berahino is a great striker. Not because I think Berahino has the attitude to succeed at the highest level. But because we are Spurs and I was convinced Harry Kane was going to get fudged at some point.

I still think that logic and reasoning was justified and I would use the same logic this summer if we can't nab ourselves other targets.

But having said that what a petulant child this guy is and I think he has demonstrated this season the sort of level he will stay at for the rest of his career - Average.

In some ways he reminds me of a young Emile Heskey. Their approaches and playing styles may be polar opposites but the goal scoring potential is exactly the same. Both had seasons where they scored far, far more than they should and now Berahino, just like Heskey, will score 5 or 6 goals a season for some GHod awful side.

Still, I would rather have him, his spoilt little brat attitude and his token half a dozen goals a season than no one at all to deputise to Kane.

EDIT: Forgot to say... Good luck getting £10m, let alone £23m now Mr. Peace. #Businessman

I disagree that he is like Heskey. Heskey was a pretty complete striker and there was nothing wrong with his attitude at all. What Heskey didn't have was that confidence, or even arrogance, that a striker needs to have. If Heskey scored his first chance then he was unplayable for the rest of the game. If he missed that first chance then he went into his shell. If Heskey had possessed Berahino's confidence then he would've been an absolute brilliant striker, instead of a striker who could be brilliant.

Berahino I thought could be a top goal scorer in the PL. He has the attributes required - touch, pace, strength, awareness, confidence. His problem is that he plays for a team that are managed by a person who above all wants size, strength and ability in the air above anything else. As a result of that we haven't seen anything that we can judge Berahino on for over a year. His performances for England under 21 convinced me that the player had a lot of quality. His stock (and value) has undoubtedly fallen now. However he could now end up being a real bargain buy for somebody.
 
If it's true that Marseille want 31 mill plus for Batshuayi and the player himself is fishing for better offers them Spurs then id rather we pay 12 mill for a petulant Berahino. At least he wants to join us, knows what a hard task master Poch is and isn't put off, and tbh I think he could have done just as well at Marseille as Batshuayi has.

Plus we can get him in now and have him available for the infamous Poch pre season torture. Get Berahino in
 
I have a few issues with Berahino, the attitude being one, although I'm not as bothered by it as some. Personally I fail to see how he fits into our system right now. He will be no better than Son or N'jie when it comes to covering for Kane as the frontman and he doesn't have anything about him that makes me think that he could improve on what we have in the starting XI. If we are looking to change our system and are looking for someone to compliment Kane then fine, else I don't see the need for him.
 
certainly looks like we've moved on from him as a CF target - i wonder though if we'd consider him for his ability to play LWF (replacing Chadli) or that he'd be interested in signing for that role and as a 3rd choice CF.


i think the attitude stuff is a bit hyperbole at this point - he didn't react well to losing out on the move but from there on in he was basically surplus to requirements at West Brom, with Pullis signing alternatives more suited to his way of playing and understandably prefering them throughought the season, he did mange to work his way back in to contention at the business end of the season though so obviously didn't completely burn his bridges there

I think we will be back in for him. We haven't signed an out and out striker which he can be. He will be cheaper than last Summer and apparently we are on good terms with WBA. Don't see what's changed from last Summer when we put in multiple bids for him. We will try again I am sure. The only thing that may scupper it is if the likes of Chelsea get in there first.

Actually the manager merry-go-round might just give us a window of opportunity to sign a player or two before the moneybags buy every player in sight.
