Richarlison

why do you get upset with my personal views?

you are going to bet that we can get to top 5 with richarlison in front of goal?

can you accept that while he is our top scorer, he can be upgraded and the team can do better?

or are you the one in love with his face or haircut

Of course I'm in love with his face and haircut, I'm only human.

A bunch of nonsense lazy questions posed, of course he can be upgraded, unless you're the absolute best player in the world in a position, there's undoubtedly someone better out there. That doesn't devalue what he's doing now for the team, even if the team is collectively looking quite bad.

I couldn't really give a fudge if we finish top 5 or not, I support the team regardless. And we're into intestate hypothesis land in terms of whether he'd make the squads of other teams that finish in the top 5 (as if that's now the arbitrary measurement of success).

As for being upset with your views, you're entitled to make yourself look an idiot, that's the glory of free speech. It's the timing rather than how tedious your opinion is tbf. Pick your moments, Richy was good yesterday and has been performing well this season. A brick start to his career with us no doubt, and whilst the team has been in decline for a while, he isn't the DOF or CEO.

Who should we have signed at the team instead of him? At least that's an interesting question. Apparently we need / deserve someone who can win every ball in the air whilst simultaneously being pacy, finish every chance and knit play together, who's the obvious target we missed out on?

I don't see us selling in January but he's absolutely one of those that'd end up leaving and winning a title in Italy or somewhere, decent strikers are hard to come by.

What's the weather like? I'd like to take a week away. Malta is about as far as I like to fly.

16/17, it's warm enough if the sun's out and apparently the UK is actually cold now so we timed it well. I was due a holiday as I've working hard for a change!

Probably because we just don’t have the squad to justify that kind of adjustment. When he’s played up front with Muani it’s looked decent, sure — but then we completely lose any natural play down the left-hand side. It ends up being a net negative over the full 90 minutes.

Any time you reshape a system just to mask the weaknesses of a lower-quality player, you’re basically stealing from Peter to pay Paul. You fix one issue and create two new ones elsewhere. At that point the overall structure suffers more than it benefits.

Well we can play Odobert on the left and Muani in the middle if that's the case. That, BTW, wouldn't be 'Peter-Paul' and in fact it would be less so than playing Muani on the left and leaving Odobert on the bench (remember, I still think Odobert needs work but he is more natural there than Muani). But IF he wanted to, Frank could absolutely play Muani and Richy as a pair AND still use Odobert on the left. He doesn't want to because it is too 'risky' for what he is doing.

We haven't had natural balance on the left for most of the season BTW, this despite a full pre-season and everyone seeing that we needed better options up and down that side.

Given that I am not sure whether I need to state the obvious in every post now, let me be clear that while Spence is a fine player, he is right-footed on the left and as such leaves us imbalanced. This not news to any of us AND it is not a critique of the player. Again, not news.

Did you drive while there, I've never met anyone who did due to parking and little winding roads, scares the life out of my missus.

Does this explain selling Brennan Johnson, a player who knows how to put the ball into the back of net, as opposed to being able to find a way to use him?
I don't mind a manager making choices, that will happen, but to suggest it is based on some perceived 'lack of ability' when it is absolutely down to that manager's choice of style when it comes to football, is wrong IMO.
I thought Frank wanted him at Brentford before we signed him, this makes no sense to me.

I don't see selling Johnson as a matter of choice. He is a poor player who scores in one very specific scenario, a scenario we are not particularly good at creating especially under Frank but not even under Ange. So we can disagree, it's not a case of taste or style, it's absolutely a matter of ability or in Johnson's case a lack of it.

I'm not going to bore you with all of the same reparative critiques of Johnson's game but I don't believe beyond Ange any of our coaches (maybe and I say maybe Jose) and definitely not Poch would entertain keeping Johnson

The Brentford recruitment system identifying Johnson as a potential option for them is different to Frank actually having him at his disposal here at Spurs and evaluating his lack of suitability.
