Comment: Tottenham Hotspur are looking at a deal for Botafogo defender Doria.

The centre back made his debut for Brazil at just 18 and is extremely highly-rated in his homeland, but Spurs would have to fork out a heavy fee for the youngster.

A third party are in the process of buying the youngster for €9million and are planning to give him a ‘shop window’ move to Porto or Benfica where they their investment will be returned many times over in the future when he is sold on in a big-money deal.

Botafogo would retain a percentage of the player’s economic rights, so Spurs have been told that they would need to stump up more cash to have any hope of winning the race for the wonderkid.

The Rio de Janeiro club would also hold out for a sell-on clause, as to not miss out on any potential future earnings.

Spurs are considering defensive options, and having released William Gallas, the Argentina international appears to have caught the eye.

Reports on the continent indicate Spurs are lining up a £8.4m move for him.

Agent Gustavo Goni says: "Fernandez will return to Naples after the loan in Spain and currently this is the only certainty. There has been no contact with Rafael Benitez. We are waiting for communication from Napoli. There were no contacts even with the leadership, expect any news from Naples,"

Fernandez's agent also admitted the defender was looking for regular playing time, as he wants to qualify for his country's participation in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Article: http://www.thehardtackle.com/2013/cagliari-might-lose-nainggolan-and-astori-if-the-price-is-right/

Comment: Tottenham are perhaps bracing themselves to prepare for live after Bale. And the first step towards that is a water-tight defense. Davide Astori, one of Cagliari’s defensive mainstays, will provide Spurs with his experience of a league which is known for its defensive prowess. Astori has been with Cagliari ever since 2008 and at 26 is perhaps at that part of his career where he should make a move to the more physical Premier League. Alongside Dawson, Verthongen and Walker, Astori will certainly add sheen to the defense at the White Hart Lane. Although Cagliari are hell-bent on holding on to their star defender, it would be difficult for them to do that any longer, should Spurs step-up their pursuit of the Italian.

Priced at around €11 million, this should be bargain for Villas-Boas and should allow Spurs to capture the coveted Champions League spot, which they have now missed two seasons in a row, after coming tantalisingly close.

It is understood Mkhitaryan's advisors have held initial talks with Tottenham chiefs regarding a possible move to White Hart Lane next season.

Sportsmail revealed this week how Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund made a £19.5million offer for the 24-year-old.

But Shakthar insist they want at least £25million for the player, who has also interested Chelsea and Emirates Marketing Project.

Comment: Tottenham Hotspur have attempted to start their recruitment drive this summer by lodging an official bid for Alberto de la Bella.

Andre Villas-Boas is understood to have identified the left-back slot as a weak area in the team, and turned to the dependable De La Bella. A bid of £3m was made but immediately rejected, and signs are Spurs will be back with another offer.
