Walker has no technique. Watch our next game, if he gets closed down, he either does that stupid feint, or he rolls the ball backwards. Not too bright either, in the football smarts department.
 
Kyle Walker is a certain starter for us, but christ is he not a good defender. He will cost us a lot this season defensively so he better start actually creating some chances offensively to conteract this.

Bale seems to have stepped up his ego going by pre season and today. But the guy needs to produce effective performances to justify this.

Siggy wasnt that bad, he tried a couple of shots from range which were decent efforts. His passing was good.

Sandro and Livermore were hard to judge as the ref harshly booked them for 1 offence each which clearly effected their games.

Defoe looked very good aswell, he looks fit and playing on his own was always going to be hard but he still managed to be a threat.

Pretty much agree with this, apart from Siggy. I didn't think he did anything effectual today.

I thought the same thing. He always wants to play which is great but its no use sulking when you are a sub or are taken off early, not sure how at his age and experience that he doesnt know this!
 
Played very well, Defoe did very well considering but we badly need strikers. Kane is an absolute joke at is level and needs to go out on loan back to the championship for another year.

We desperately need to replace modric very quickly. THudd could be a good stop gap but AVB doesn't rate him, but Livermore is not that in the slightest, not even close. He's a poor understudy for sandro and Parker, 3rd choice DM and nothing more for me.

Personally, althou they weren't bad, gallas and friedel need to be squad players for me. Not our first choice players.

For me I was looking to see how he would work in the team and while he didnt have a great game, he delivered some decent set pieces and was at least a threat to Saudi Sportswashing Machine. I just thought he took up good positions outside the box and if Defoe was a target man instead he would have had a bigger effect on the game.
 
I didnt follow alot of the preseason,so can anyone tell me why Huddlestone was not in the squad today?Is he injured again or does AvB just not rate him at all?
 
Ekotto played very well today for a change IMO.

I want a goalie that saves penalty! Gomes against Sunderland but also conceded two more pens in the same match!!

Agree with everything bar the bolded bit. He was good in stages but he started poorly and didn't get involved much.

We missed Modric badly today. We didnt control possession which meant that we failed to contorl the game, particularly in the second half. With Modric, we would have dominated that game today as we would have kept the ball

PLaying with 2 defensive CMs who arent able to use/move/rotate the ball quickly like Modric does means that you fail to control the game. We desperately need a creative CM to play in their alongside Sandro/Parker if we're going to get results. Roll on Sept 1....

Makes today's defeat all the harder to stomach. He's still our player, getting paid mountains of dosh by the minute to let the side down.

Good first half performance and poor second half. Walker and BAE's distribution really poor throughout. VDV tried too many Hollywood balls when he came on - none of which worked.

Bale and Lennon looked good in the first half when they were taking on their men. Why did they swap in the second half? It nullified our attacking intent. With Simpson booked early on, why didnt they both take him on at every opportunity? Mystifying to me.
