Am I imagining this, or did he once refer to the club (ie, the board) as 'my employees' when questioned over his position by the press...?!

AVB lost 5 games mate, Arsenal away, West Ham at Home, City Away, Saudi Sportswashing Machine at Home and Liverpool at Home, He also drew with Utd at Home, Chelsea and Everton to complete the round of rival clubs. Sherwood lost Away at Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham, Home to Arsenal and City but beat Utd, Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Everton. As for the cups Sherwood faced West Ham and Arsenal domestically both of whom had already beaten AVB’s team. Sherwood faced Benfica in the Europa League who were the eventual runners up.

It’s splitting hairs but Sherwood’s record against the clubs considered our rivals was slightly better. It was a horrible season tbf, makes me shudder thinking about it but the point is, that despite the venom that is directed his way, Sherwood certainly did no worse than AVB perhaps slightly better.

And yet overall he had a better win ratio during his spell as Spurs manager, it seems to me mate that you letting your dislike of AVB get in the way of the facts by being selective with your picking of time spans.

Problem is, if you want to compare to Sherwood it's impossible to use a proper sample size.

He's been such a ridiculous failure as a manager his career was over almost before it started. The man's a fudging joke in and out of football.

Indeed.

The half season where Timmeh was in charge of Spurs was the period of time where it has been the least rewarding as a Spurs supporter in my time. Not because I necessarily was negative to Sherwood from the outset, but because I became a bit disillusioned and questioned if Levy would ever find the right guy. As I said at the time, I was not annoyed with the sacking, I was agitated because we never could seem to make the right appointment.

As I recall, there were rumours that Sherwood was well thought of witihn the club and was seen as somewhat of a coaching talent. Unfortunately he rather swiftly made media appearances where he came across as a narcissistic taco. The fact that he couldn't stop talking himself up was what did it for me. I couldn't support a leader like that in such an important position at my club.

Luckily Levy got rid of him and finally managed to find the right guy. If he had let Sherwood fulfill his contract, I don't know if I could have taken the 2014/15 season. Maybe I would have skipped watching quite a few of the games.

initially, he was caretaker, then after one game (in which he beat Poch right?) he was given a two year contract, this wasn’t like Pleat or Houghton taking over until the end of the season, he’d convinced Levy he was worthy of a full time appointment

Iirc he already had a year and a half remaining on his previous contract and they just changed the job title

That's the astounding thing; didn't he state, or at least act as if the whole 'caretaker'/temporary role thing was completely beneath him?! Which led on to him being given the (otherwise) totally unneccessary and ludicrous 18 month (as opposed to 6 month) contract? Let's not forget we're talking about a guy with zero top-job experience here...

As someone else has suggested, it was his totally unreal arrogance that was as big a problem as anything else for me.

This absolute tool stands as a monumental example for kids as to how not to behave when caught out. Great piece here breaking down his pathetic thought process (loose term I admit)...

He reminds me of Trump a little. At first I thought he was just blagging it and didn't really believe his own guff. But I was wrong. He does. Both him and Trump live in their own version of reality where events have been distorted to fit their own version of history.
I wonder what that is like.

Will give him massive kudos for the youth development work. Also he did quite good for a novice at Spurs. Thanks Tim. That said he did make some stuppiiiddd comments when he left Spurs!!!

I got no problem putting him in the same catogory. But a little higher than AVB, because same league, same players, same season. He done better than that Charlatan
Sherwood is not a better manager than AVB. I am astonished that we are comparing the two.
