I would be amazed if any white person born in this country did not have at least some foreign blood in them just a few generations back. I have quite a bit of Italian from my mothers side and though my fathers family were in London from before the first world war I was naturally horrified to find in our family tree that the is French blood on his side, I dont tell people I know about that though would not want it getting out.

I actually agree with you because I am amazed that Labour are still behind in the polls. Apparently Boris is holding up with the blue collar worker in the north which is mental considering everything, I hated Bliar but Boris is giving him a run for his money with his Teflon like abilities. That the tories are even in the running to take Hartlepool means I may have lost touch with the mood of the public and I can only assume this culture war is the only way to keep them in power.
They delivered Brexit, cheers for that now don't let the door hit you on the way out.

The flip side of this, is that I my self identify as British Turkish Cypriot. English is not really part of my identity at all. British, is and proudly so, but not English... why is that?

So my local council are doing some 'lawn' maintenance outside the house as i can see. Been there around 2 hours as i went for a run this morn, and in that time, they've spent most of it not working at all. The work they've done, probably took 15 mins. A bit farcical really.

So much for Farrage sailing down the Thames with a flotilla of fisherman. Got to feel sorry for them, of course taking control of our waters is appealing. Catchy and patriotic, who wouldn't want that? Like most things Brexit the devil is in the detail. That we sell most of our fish to the EU seems to have passed these fisherman by, and they have been right royally shafted. If it hadn't destroyed multi-generational family businesses it would actually be quite funny. But could be another nail in the coffin of these British coastal communities? Now tourism and holiday lets will be all there is in these areas. Still...the UK could clean up its waters to allow eu she’ll fish exports again; and get Brits eating more fish?

The environment secretary, George Eustice, is facing a threat of legal action from shellfish farmers over claims the government has misled the industry over its post-Brexit arrangements with the EU.
A solicitor representing 20 shellfish firms told the Guardian the government had shown “negligence and maladministration” and that they were considering a group action claim for compensation.
