Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

We always get the government we deserve.

5 years ago no one thought Boris could be PM, let alone run for election. He was seen as a joke. Someone who was worth a giggle on Have I Got News for You. Corbyn likewise is a bit of a red herring. Excuse the pun. Labour people thought he'd be around for a short time while the Labour scratched a left-leaning itch post Blair etc and then they'd get an electable trusted leader again. Swinson is meek.

Truth is, with Brexit and no one wanting to be saddled with delivering impossible promises, talented smart people are not putting themselves forward. There is a genuine dearth of quality people in politics. They are not paid particularly well. There is more animosity than ever. MPs being threatened etc. And I don't think politics even attracts the best and the brightest. ....which leaves us with this shower.

Ha, ha, ha. Deluded or just a propagandist. I'd say the latter. Labour don't need to resort to these types of stunts to make the 'Tories look bad.' All they have to do is point out real life scenarios. What a joke.
Ah well at least they will get the moral victory on Thursday then

So, as it emerges today that 88% of Tory paid for ads are lies Vs 0% of Labours
And
The hideous extent of bots and Matt Hanrooster in spreading disinformation in the aftermath of the boy at the hospital
(To what extent the above is entirely accurate is unsure. Even if it's 100% true, there is enough anxiety around information to put it in doubt)..... something has struck me.
We might in for a Brexit vote scenario - where people vote to hide the truth rather than face the truth and the challenges it brings.
(For the record - I think that applies to both leave & remain - not a jibe at leavers.)

Have we reached a point of no return?
It certainly feels an overhaul of politics and media regulation is essential.

Got sent this last night.

I'm not naive enough to take it as gospel, and I've not fact checked it, but it's all stuff I've heard previously collected in one place.

And if even half is true, how can anyone vote for him?

Truth went out the window 5 stops ago. Brexit was a watershed. People still don't really understand what it is they voted for "just get us out". Out of what? A free trade area, that will damage the economy, and not impact on immigration. "just get us out".

Brexit has been used by Boris to gain power. Without it he'd be doing Have I Got News For You still and writing sneery columns for the Torygraph. I am actually looking forward to him 'delivering' that should be just like putting a ready meal in the oven (doesn't he have a microwave maybe he's using Jacob Reese Mogs kitchen?). Speaking of which, looks like they decided JRM was a turn off to average voters so he's been snoozing somewhere.

From a quick scan of that I'd say the vast majority is true.

There was a really good article in the Telegraph the other day pointing out how thoroughly ashamed we should all be as a nation that someone with such a clear (if not intentional) anti-semitic position can be even involved in our politics, let alone pushing to be leader of the country. Look at Corbyn's history on it and replace Jewish with black - he'd be hounded out by now. But as a nation, we simply don't give much of a fudge about anti-semitism.

What if someone is Pro-Palestinian? By your reasoning that makes them anti-Semitic? Bit like if you support a red team in N. London you are automatically 'anti-spurs'?

Pro Hamas is not the same as pro Palestine.

Hamas are a terrorist organisation with a stated aim of the destruction of Israel (I believe the word they used is "obliterate" but I can't be certain).

WTO are basically saying they'll sit tight until Trump gets put in prison/voted out/murdered by Putin.
Killed by cheese burgers might be the most likely. I've seen a few clips this morning of his ranting from yesterday's klan rally. He is badly slurring and is having severe difficulty pronouncing other relatively simple words. Dementia has a hold of him for sure but there is more to it. Diagnosing from a distance, some experts are thinking we are looking at micro strokes. Impeachment might just be enough to do him in.

It's so transparent what the right wing nut job element are doing. There were crickets when Tories were accused of it. It's just a big stick to beat Corbyn with. They don't give a stuff about anti antisemitism, what they are scared of is socialism.

Would be fitting for him to die doing an Elvis.
