The flippant remarks are not really appropriate when Mark says his concerns are around people coming here who do not share our society's values.

My wife has herself and other female friends and colleagues been followed and verbally abused by people around Brighton, Norwich and Exeter by people with distinct accents who shout abusive things in broken English.

It is something people are for some reason trying cover up which actually tells me more about them then they would care to admit.

It is by denying a problem exists preparing the ground for a British Trump.

Now I would prefer a soft landing where this country enforced rules more and stopped people coming illegally and changing the country as radically as is happening. But by not happening it is obvious what the next step is for the electorate.

No, Marks concern is "the illegals" - whom he thinks are all criminals.

I do wonder if Putin miscalculated there and didn't expect European nations to freeze those assets and eventually take them - technically its theft, surely?! Credit to Johnson's Govt for being decisive with that. I suspect Putin was expecting to be able to use that money.

Advanced countries dont need soldiers in modern wars. Some F35s and a team of kids sat thousands of miles away controlling drones do the job.

They were followed and it was a younger member of the family. Happens to be Irish as it happens.

Followed by two young (late teens) who called her a slut for wearing a skirt and made what she considered vile sucking noises with their mouth. Spoke in foreign language to each other. Which to her ear sounded Arabic.

The English they did speak was with such a heavy accent she assumed they had not been in the country long.

She is studying catering and the experience is one that us replicated by others on her course.

I said months ago my wife has had the same experience here in Brighton as have a young colleague from B&Q.

Think the people that are hostile to these sort of views being spoken about are fighting a war from years ago. Where they think anyone repeating anecdotal evidence is racist or someone like @markysimmo who i consider to have legitimate concerns, is racist.

When it really is not. A soft landing where the was more control would be best. Because without that we are then headed for our own Trump and I don't want that.

What comes before sets the tone for what comes next.

More likely in my view priti patel gets a hedge fund backer to help become next tory leader after the next general election which I would expect Labour to narrowly win and she takes the tories to the far right and wins the following one.

Tanks arent really any use in modern war - Russia lost 1000 of them in the early days of the war as anti tank weaponry is massively superior now. Britain only maintains a handful of old Gulf War Challengers, mainly for the kids' show at Bovington

I think that's a real simplification. Tanks have always been destroyed in large numbers whenever they've been used against a comparative enemy, whether in WW1 or WW2 and now in this war. But both Russia and Ukraine continue to use tanks and the UK are upgrading its Challenger fleet to challenger 3. Tanks remain a vital part of modern combat - they're an all-terrain vehicle that can shelter infantry from small and medium arms fire, gain ground at up to 40 mph and deploy an artillery grade weapon. Will they get taken out by the right weaponry? Of course, just like anything else.
