That’s actually a good question. But things can be so nuanced and we’re not actually in their heads to know what they’re thinking.
(Example Ange thought bubble…) “Hmmm.. I’d really like someone that I can bring on late in a game against tired legs with pace to get in behind to play crosses in. Especially in situations where we’re sitting deep and need an outlet. It’s a bit too specialised so I don’t want to pay a permanent fee. A loan will do, especially if it’s someone we are familiar with than can do that…hmmm who might fit the bill?”
In this scenario whether or not we sign anyone else Ange has filled a need that he wants for that specialist role.
Depending on your take you could look at it optimistically or pessimistically. On one hand it might mean we expect to either get a quality starter in front of him or think Son will return to previous levels there. On the negative side we don't believe we are able to get the quality of starter we require and Werner is cheapish and knows the system already and he's a better the devil you know situation.Ange didn’t seem overly enthusiastic about the possibility of making his loan deal permanent when he got injured. That as much as Werner’s performances surprised me that we decided to re-loan him in.
Whatever the reason....it was the best solution for us.
We'll find that out at the end of the season.Whatever the reason....it was the best solution for us.
The Klarna of football transfers. It's a loan with obligation to buy. It's basically just giving them 12 months extra to pay for him. Usually in these sort of deals, the overall cost for the buying club is higher than it would be if they bought the player straight away, but spread out over an extra year.
