PDC World Darts Championship 2013/14

Gave it a miss this year. Still a top night out though.

Not been as many classic games in this tournament, that top half really opened up once Taylor went out. Have a sneeky feeling Wright will beat Whitlock tonight, but still cant see past Van Gerwen. Still looks to have another gear yet
 
I was there the night before Taylor's defeat, the monkeys seemed a bit more relaxed this year, felt quite threatening the previous time. I love the sport and a lot of what sky have done but it's all gone a bit nuts magazine with the dancers and I find it a tad on the seedy side now.

I know, how ****ing **** is that, they aren't even at the same club anymore

the darts songs used to be great but it's all a bit northern/rugby now, a bit ferral, it used to be about the players, rather than "banter" between the stands and tables

I think there is a danger that the sport will cross the line one year. Already seen a few fights in the stands and the players get dogs abuse now.

Something will happen eventually mark my words.

I agree, I've been every year bar one at the palace and a few times at the tavern before it and it's on a definite decline
 
Never actually been to the darts myself, does anyone ACTUALLY take any notice of whats actually going on in front of them? All just seems to be inane chanting about how quiet or how poor various parts of the audience are! Better view on telly anyway I suppose

Some seats are that far away, you have to look at the screens anyway. We went for the atmosphere really..and a few drinks.

Been a couple of times when Taylor has been on and the atmosphere was brilliant, and one night Van der Voort was on too, that was just as good.
Done a Premier League night at the Motorpoint in Sheffield, atmosphere was good there too. But as you say, if you actually want to see the darts, better watching at home on TV. Crack open a can and sing to the wife 'Its so quiet, it's so quiet over there' (or perhaps not....)
 
Van Gerwen outstanding tonight 6-0.

Should be a decent final v Wright, but still think MVG will have too much firepower for me. Depends on who wins the toss, but going for 7-5

Rafa VDV certainly didnt when he went, he got a great reception.

I assume you mean Andros Townsend, I read he was there last night but not heard anything about him being booed.
Certainly wouldnt have done if he was called Andros Toure (still dont get why they are still doing that chant)
 
Yeah on tv it sounded like Townsend was getting booed and the commentator said he's probably in the wrong part of North London but I thought Ally Pally was closer to Tottenham? Matt Le Tissier was also there and he got a great reception.

Funny cos I seem to remember VDV getting some stick too?
 
Used to be so in love with darts! John Lowe my fave player (hated the Crafty one)... Keith Deller clearly had issues with sleep... Wilson, Lim, George...

Used to go to the BDO shop in Muswell Hill for my flights :D

A million holes in the wall at home from games...

Happy days...

Looks all too glossy now
