Paulinho

Re: Official - Paulinho

Shocking wasn't he:ross:

I'd be interested in why you think he is starting for Brazil. Obviously Scolari knows what he is doing and he is picking Paulinho about some very good players. Why do you think that is?

I'm honestly not sure - for his ability/tendency to get forward from deep? He just avoids the ball so much for a central midfielder!

He wont be for much longer.
Why? Because they don't have any decent central midfielders. Scolari is just gonna play it safe.
And Scolari had Kleberson and Gilberto Silva in the middle last time he won the world cup with them. He likes really average workmanlike central midfielders.

Just because he can be a threat in the box, somehow suits the system/tactics.......there is nothing else, invisible, doesn't tackle, unambitious passing. The Brazilian Kevin Nolan

I thought that apart from one or two players Brazil were pretty poor tonight and I don't think that Paulinho was any poorer than most of the team. I'm interested to see how he plays in the rest of the tournament, he obviously had a poor season for us but I thought he looked good in the confederations cup last summer.

Kevin Nolan has (had) some presence at least, a tough guy, you always (in his Bolton years anyway) noticed him on the pitch.

Paulie was his usual self today - invisible.

I do - Not worse than Hulk or Fred, but poorer than pretty much everyone else (and much poorer than his closest counterparts - Gustavo, Oscar and Neymar).

Oscar and Neymar were their stand out players for me tonight.

Re: Official - Paulinho

Did his job well tonight, stretched the Croatia midfield and defence, and managed to get a shot or two away. On another day might have scored. 6.5/10. Some Spurs fans aren't happy unless they have a ridiculous nickname to give a player they hate.

Re: Official - Paulinho

Good to see some people bad mouthing one of their own again!

OK Paulinho isn't great but why is he being singled out? He isnt the reason we had a poor season last year. Time for people to stfu I think.

Re: Official - Paulinho

I thought Brazil looked alright today, and Paulinho was a clearly one of the fulcrums for on which the team rests. Some sparkle on top from Oscar and Neymar but overall they were the dangerous team that dictated the match (even though Croatia ultimately will feel robbed).

It was their first competitive match for years will take them a while to get going. I hoping this will be a good World Cup for Paulinho, still could be a massive player for us.

Do you seriously feel any connection with a player who has been here less than a year and done **** all?

Fulcrum my ****. He completed 19 passes all game.

Re: Official - Paulinho

A sad sight to see our fans queuing up to **** one of our players off. Will never get my head around that

scolari has done a great job at putting up a brazil team with a cohesive defensive unit and solid core. though croatia did well nullifying most of the threats. i could not recognize modric - not just the new haircut - but he wasn't really able to make an impact or was it gustavo who did a brilliant job on him? neymar and oscar lived up to the hype, but gustavo impressed me the most in this brazil squad.

Re: Official - Paulinho

I just think people who bad mouth Paulinho performance last night don't really understand anything more than simple passing and shooting.

Movement off the ball and positional play that opens games up for others goes unnoticed.

He wasn't great but he effected the game in different ways.

It would be interesting if some average bashers did some coaching badges and actually understood more about what's required in a system!
