OT: What next for Harry?

Aaaaaand we see from afar some of the stuff we used to see on our own patch...Darren Bent anybody?

Apparently the "pro Harry crowd" can't get over his sacking, and yet a lot of posters take EVERY OPPORTUNITY they can get to have a dig at him.

I shouldn't bite at this sort of thing, I should know better :)

The Darren bent comparison is a silly one anyway.

It was obviously a comment said on raw emotion rather than anything more sinister. it was right after a game where we threw away a golden opportunity to get out of the relegation zone so redknapp makes a comment about the missed opportunity and his wife being able to score it. Obviously a stupid thing to say but it's now being twisted as if Redknapp's reason for saying it was to deflect attention from him and onto bent. Quite unreal but whatever.

You sure about that? Could it not be that we don't pay as much attention to what they do?

Clubs start working on deals as much as a year before they're completed.

Er yeah I am. I don't see Chelsea, Arsenal, Emirates Marketing Project or United taking as long as we do.

Liverpool have already started to work on getting Sturridge.

How about clubs that have less money than us then? Why don't they take as long as we do?

We have due diligence?

I think our contract terms are alot more complicated than other clubs, in order to protect ourselves from predator clubs stealing badly contracted players. Which is a good thing with the effect of prolonging negotiations.

I'll reply to you directly simply because you're right and I agree with you, the context of that situation was very very different to yesterday's comment. In fairness to Harry, I never had a real problem with the Bent comment simply because I didn't like Bent anyway (even if I don't think yu should let that stuff out in the press and that if you do there's a reason) but again, at the time I wholeheartedly agreed with him (despite not having seen Sandra play football). He was frustrated and rightly so.
So yes, a cheap dig, I'll put my hand up.

See my answer to your point in my answer to King Dawson supporting your point. It was a cheap dig and I acknowledge that the context of each player slagging is different. As for taking EVERY opportunity, believe me y friend, I don't take 'every' opportunity. There have been plenty more I've avoided. In fact I am trying to look on with interest and as much impartiality as I can muster (as of yet I haven't seen you offer a breakdown of what he's got to work with and how he might use it)...but when he motormouths like that after a match, well, come on now, are we not allowed a dig? I didn't even get into the fact he publicly tried to make our chairman seem like a **** when the truth of the matter is that he should shut the fudge up about us and get on with his own business behind closed doors, yet he cannot help himself. Keep reading him through January, he will be unable to help himself.
BTW, I will leave you with one thought. I know you're not convinced by AVB, but don't say the man lacks class. When we have issues of discipline at the club, they are dealt with firmly behind closed doors and the player is never held out for a public hanging. Harry believe in doing things another way. I think his way generally lacks class. But again, horses for course, we all have our preferred ways of working...

I was probabaly the one who brought up the 'deflection tactic' issue so IK'll hold my hands up.

I just wanted to clarify that I was not so much reffering to the Darren Bent quip but what was more on my mind was the way he publically lambasted Bassong after the penalty give-away against Blackpool in our 3-1 loss after the san siro win. What also came to mind was the 'Lennon late withdrawal' moment against Real Madrid when he said that Lennon pulled out if the game last minute whilst Lennon took to twitter himslef to deny that he had pulled out at gthe last minute like that and that he'd been doubtful for a few days leading up to the game.

That last incident to me smacked of Redknapp not doing enough due planning/dilligence/having a plan B, getting cuaght out (goal conceded in the first few minutes; why the f was somebody much better in the air than Jenas marking Adebayor at the corners ffs??) ad when wanting to deflct the blame onto a 'key last-minute injury that messed-up oou plans'.

Just wanted to clarify that point. Darren Bent was not on my mind when talking about 'deflection tactics'

Harry Redknapp clarifies attack he made on QPR's "overpaid" players | Sky Sports

Harry Redknapp has clarified an attack he made on QPR's "overpaid" players in the wake of Saturday's defeat at Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

The Rangers manager claimed some players earn "too much money for what they are", singled out Jose Bosingwa for refusing to sit on the bench against Fulham and suggested the club's summer transfer business had made cash for "a lot of agents".

The outburst prompted a Twitter response from owner Tony Fernandes, who argued that "the value of a player is subjective", and Redknapp offered a more considered appraisal of his squad ahead of the Boxing Day game against West Brom.

Redknapp said: "I wasn't talking about all the players, I was talking about certain players.

"I've got no problem with players who are earning good money, and value for their money, I just felt there are one or two who haven't given this value.

"It's difficult. When Mark brought these players in, massive money wasn't spent here on transfers.

"So what they had to do is take chances. You have to take chances on players, you get them free and you pay them decent, bigger money and it's all a gamble.

"Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't."

Redknapp praised former manager Mark Hughes, claiming players not pulling their weight caused his sacking, and said he wants to take the club higher.

He added: "It was difficult for Mark, he was a top manager. I've got great respect for him.

"And the chairman here, I don't think I've met any nicer people in football. That's why I'm desperate to do well for the people who run this club.

"One or two of the players haven't pulled their weight, that's why Mark lost his job.

"If you want to go and spend 30 odd million on Aguero you know what you're getting. They're not gambles they're certainties. That's how the game works.

"When you're dealing at the other end of the market you're taking chances, you don't have the money for the fees. I'm going to be taking the chances now, in the transfer window. Hopefully they'll come off but there's no guarantee.

"Most of the lads here have been absolutely brilliant, top class. I still feel we'll get out of trouble."

"It is worth noting that although Redknapp's time in charge of Portsmouth ended in a deficit of some £40 million, the club has since gone on to sell many of the players he signed while he was there, giving the club a staggering £103,940,000 million in sales in just three years. A massive profit of around £30 million for the struggling club".

So at

Bournemouth = Spent £1.2m and brought in £1.77m.
West Ham = Spent £52.09m and brought in £77.01m.
First spell at Pompey = Spent £7.65m and brought in £5.06m.
Southampton = Spent £2.57m and brought in £16m.
Second spell at Pompey = Spent £68.3m and brought in £29.07m.
