Apart from those attempted by EriksenEvery single tackle on a football pitch is a red card by that logic. There is always a small chance that a player could get injured.

Are refs even allowed to do that? I mean he clearly formally awarded a yellow card and then later gives a red card??
Obviously with var thats allowed but there was no var, which is part of the problem.
I think the official record is that he gets both a yellow card and a red card! The yellow for the push and the red because of the severity of the injury (which in itself you are not allowed to base a decision on) so all in all a monstrouserty of fudge ups from the officials
Our best attacking pass of the game came from their player too4 attempts on goal in the game from us, really not good enough.
Horrible all over from the ref and VAR.
To bring it back to Son’s pen: I have no idea how several pro refs (and the ex player commentating) cannot see how that’s a pen.
The irony is he didn’t use VAR to check it before the red.
Then he didn’t use it to overrule.
Had 2 chances to use VAR and passed up both in the process of awarding a yellow and a red.
Pretty amazing when it’s there for red card assistance.
Biggest miss for me is Atkinson. Standing looking straight at it. Imo refs find the ‘no pens’ pretty easy to give as it just goes to VAR.
Correct and the red was a joke!He wasn’t on a yellow. He gave a yellow and altered to a red.
They need to fudging toughen up. Same happened at Brighton.
Not a red card for me.Isn't every tackle potentially endangering a player?
Son went for the ball, genuinely, imo. Not sure he was ever going to make it, but his intentions were for the ball and nothing more.
He's stubbed Gomes' foot and from what I can see the consequent movement of gomes, getting his stids stuck, has done the damage
Could literally happen anytime
@milo anyone other than N'dombele and ... yeah, I don't know. He's the only one out there playing well. I feel bad for him. Coming to a Champions League finalist thinking we'll be challening for trophies, and he's playing with a bunch of amateurs, it seems.
@ me with your man of the match nominations
Not a red card for me.
It really wasn't. Watch Son. He picks up pace when he realised who has the ball. It was a revenge tackle, no doubt about it. The tackle itself probably wasn't deserving of a red card but there was intent to trip Gomez so Son caused his broken leg through his indiscipline. If he was on a yellow as suggested above, it was even more fudging stupid.
Double-down time...I am sure my boyfriends here will loooooove this.
1) Dele playing his way into form a plus.
2) Davies surely confirming he needs to play regularly.
3) Both Ndombele and Lo Celso showing why they are not quite ready for 90. Tanguy was giving the ball away and dancing on a yellow; when tiring he gets sloppy. Lo Celso will be brilliant; he is still learning when to try certain things and when not.
4) Eriksen must have a video???? Again, I can only think that if Kane or Lamela had been fit he would not have started. Worst yet from him.
5) Walker-Peters must be terrible, Jan hurt, Rose hurt and we don’t want him anyway, so defence is down to bare bones. I would play Foyth over Aurier personally.
6) Terrible lack of form but most showing determination to hang in and graft through. First-half was fear flavoured football from both sides.
7) Poch is bewildering right now but not hiding or throwing players under the bus.
Ignore pressers IMO. Don’t worry, those clams at Amazon will serve up “the truth” later.
I wish the bench had been alive to subbing Sonny after he got the yellow, though in fairness no-one could’ve guessed Atkinson’s self-protective brick.
I stand by my opinions. If you want to try and belittle them, do one. If you want to discuss, would love to.
The sort of thing which happens in football all the time. Unfortunate what happened to Gomes. Never a red. Never.
