OMT. Tottenham v Burnley.

I largely agree with you - but Dele isn't really helping himself at the moment. I think he needs to get back to the basics - and try and time more late runs into the penalty area. He doesn't seem to be making many of those recently. Against Brighton, Kane was completely isolated. Kane himself hasn't exactly been leading the line well recently either.

That is why I think putting in Llorente to lead the line against Burnley and giving Kane a number 10 role may give him some more freedom. At the same time resting Dele to perhaps come on later against tiring legs may be the best plan for this one.

It's true but there are factors.
One - we simply have not been moving the ball quickly enough.
Two - as we know, the Brightons of this world pack their half and essentially eliminate the space for those runs unless the passes are needle-threaded. It is why some have suggested that our most dangerous moments come off the breakdown of an opportunity attack, as suddenly that space opens up/the other team cannot put a wall in front of us. To that end I feel sorry for Dele.

One thing which I would be tempted to look for tomorrow (if we need a boost) would be a Llorente/N'Koudou double switch. When teams pack their half, we need the pace out wide to make it harder for them. We can certainly see why Poch wanted Mane back then.

I can see all sides re: Dele, but my gut feeling is we support a wonderful talent at a tough moment and give him the opportunity to power through and deliver.

Burnley defender James Tarkowski has accepted a charge of violent conduct and will serve a three-match ban with immediate effect.

The 25-year-old was charged after swinging his arm into Brighton striker Glenn Murray's chest during Saturday's 0-0 draw in the Premier League.

Tarkowski will miss games against Tottenham, Manchester United and Huddersfield this month.

He will be available for Liverpool's visit to Turf Moor on 1 January.

Although Tarkowski accepted the charge, he argued the three-game ban was excessive - a claim rejected by a Football Association panel.

The centre-back has started all 18 of Burnley's Premier League matches this season, helping them reach sixth in the current table - just two points off the Champions League places.

Burnley have the joint-best defensive record in the top tier - alongside both Manchester clubs, City and United - conceding just 12 goals.

Shows how poor we have been this season when we need to be happy at mighty Burnley having a defender suspended.

It seems quite reasonable to be pleased that a defender of a forthcoming opponent is suspended when they belong to a defence that has conceded the least goals so far in the Premier League this season.

great defensive record however still quite incredible that you could be 6th in the table having scored less than 1 goal per game (though if you're not conceding then scoring 1 is enough....)

Normal mid season abnormality, there is always one team in top 6/8 early-mid December that just is on a run, by February/March it will be back to the usual mix of same old, same old, just the order ....

You talk so much downright good sense. Except for the occasional rant of course. And then, wow you really let rip. :D

But I love it all.

Pochettino will play Dele, Dier continuing with his philosophy of playing peeps when they are on bad form.

They're sixth. Even if we had a better season they would be seventh. In the league only City (three) and Chelsea (two) have scored more than once against them. But because they're Burnley... Can't fault that logic...

He is a robot and those kind of things don’t compute

OR continuing his philosophy that the way to regain form is to play in games and also because they have clearly trained better than potential replacements. His stated philosophy is that you sign for a club to train, and the reward for performance in training is being selected for games.

When you are appointed manager at Tottenham you can select the team you want based on your selection philosophy..

For those of you who were pining away in misery after we lost to Waste Ham in the Caribou Cup thingmy, just take a moment to appreciate Pochettino's brilliance in engineering the Great Escape from that pit of obligations.

Horrible end to last week's game. Tough prospect on the horizon this week.

Absolutely essential we have this time off to properly prepare for the days immediately ahead.

We are in no position as a club to pick and choose the trophies we want to win. It remains as ridiculous a philosophy as it did the morning after the West Ham defeat.

This is going to be very, very tricky. They are running themselves into the ground for their manager and overachieving as a result (sound familiar?). The crowd will be up for it. A real test of our current mental state.

Indeed! It's time to combine 100% effort with the quality we have got.

Enjoyed your sideways take on the defeat by the Spammers but it was his team that deserve the credit, not Poch. He fielded a strong enough side to take care of what was also a sub-strength opponent. But they clearly wanted and needed it so much more than us, it was their Cup Final after all.
