***OMT*** Tottenham...Thursday Night In Frankfurt

There shouldn’t be any opinion calls in pro sport, everything should be objective.

That's not the point.

There is no statistic that measures football against the laws of the game. The VAR stats aren't worth the paper they are written on. Imagine if a referee was measured against such laws whether they made a decision and got it right / wrong or even neglected to make a decision when they should have done (based on the laws). Then a tolerance is allowed for the referees for a very few decisions that are subjective.

This current set of officials would score terribly. Put the right metrics in place and the referee behaviour would change for the better.

The other truism of this approach is that there would be hardly any games that finished with 22 players on the pitch. Player behaviour would have to change as well if referees followed the letter of the laws. When they do this, they can be classed as being objective again in my opinion. At the moment, they are not. They are breaking the system by constantly ignoring the laws.

Being an old fart and remembering the magic of travelling on a steam train I watch these railway shows. In reality my memories were probably influenced by us going on holiday and not the nightmare of daily commuting. Like most travel shows they bare little relation to reality as the traveller doesn't have delayed or cancelled trains, always has has a seat, doesn't have irritating passengers pressed up against them and possibly gets to use a working toilet, still the views are good.

Sounds absolutely brilliant. If you do it, please grab a few photos...Boards of Canada soundtrack material perhaps?

Unfortunately the train times didn't work out for me so I'm just flying in/out now.

Feels like a missed opportunity if the journey is that impressive though

I don't know if impressive is the word. Trees, rocks, water. It all gets a bit samey after a few hours, but I've only driven the first half by car myself.

Thank you @thfcsteff. That was a brilliant night, all obviously stemming from your fabulous OMT.
I have experienced limbs before but I think this was the first time I have literally been knocked to the ground when we scored. I don’t think there is a part of me that is not aching this morning and I will have some bruise-explaining to do when I get home, but all worth it.
Even the Ange Angels version was being belted out in the pub after - we are fickle us Spurs fans.
Bring on the semi-final!! No chance of getting a ticket but might go out there anyway.
@Glenda's Legs were you amongst this?!

For those coming from Norway to England. If all London airports are super expensive.
Presumably you can get a cheap flight to Bristol or Birmingham etc and get a train or coach?
No idea, just thinking aloud.
I was in Lecce this morning. A seriously beautiful place. I didn't see Dele Alli though.
So many regional airports like Lecce, Brindisi, Bari etc, I'm sure our Norwegian friends can find a way. It ain't far.
