Because we need to boss this game. Be fluid, cutting and take it by the scruff of the neck. A disjointed performance relying on one of Defoe's hopeful long rangers to go in could easily turn into another Norwich, West Brom, Panathinaikos or Maribor.
He looked awesome against Villa. Even against Chelsea we suddenly gained fluidity and Siggy came into the game as a result of him being there.
I know Defoe has been playing well above himself, but we're still handicapping ourselves by not playing the vastly superior player

I don't think that many would argue that Ade is a better player than Defoe when on form but he isn't on form at the moment and worse than that he looks disinterested. I thought that he looked completely lackluster against Chelsea.
Ade needs to buckle down and sign up to how AVB wants things done. When he does, we should consider whether he starts games.

People want loris ahead of freidel because of the long term benefit, as they are both pretty much playing at the same standard at the moment. Whereas people want Defoe to stay in where ade is the better choice long term, as showed by his performances with us last year. Those claiming he's not 'on form'? He's not played enough match time to be match fit.
