They have also used the club as collateral for loans in the past against Tottenham shares and Lewis's primary obligation is to ENIC and the shareholders of ENIC. And it is actually Bahamas registered subsidiary ENIC International that holds the majority share and they are in turn controlled by Tavistock Group.
Their business is making a profit from Spurs, not delivering on the pitch. Tavistock and ENIC have share in everything from Warner Bros to beach resorts to gambling businesses. Oil, gas, country clubs, luxury resorts and corporate hospitality etc...
Just because they ENIC and Tavistock group are the major shareholders in the club doesn't mean ENIC as a company are fans of anything other than making money. They are in the business of flipping businesses for a profit and it is perfectly obvious that Levy has been given the role of squeezing blood out of a stone as far as keeping us comepetetive is concernced. Anyone with an ounce of ambition would have invested at the last transfer window to secure 3rd slot. To me Levy messed up and I don't care how hard a bargain he drives in the boardroom. he held off and we all paid the cost.
Joe Lewis couldn't care less how Spurs do on the pitch other than qualification for the Champs League where the money is. He's in business, Levy is running Spurs as a business. Let's not pretend they're in it for the love, cigars and a sing-song from the boys they used to stand with in the Shelf.
Hence the fact that no-one cares about winning trophies anymore.
