I can't see Poch going to Everton or United going for Ancelotti. Loch's next club needs to be one that can buy an honour, to get that monkey off his back.

Should have gone to Arsenal so he could have won the FA Cup. I do wonder if he had done that with us but not achieved the consistency in the League or Champions League final would he be viewed in a better light by some of our fans.

He should've left after the CL final. It had begun to go stale but it wasn't completely obvious to everyone outside the club. He's a good manager but he stayed in the job too long.

The results and performances (especially away from home) would tend to suggest it was obvious to most who were objective in their analysis.

Either that or recruited some new coaches to freshen up training, like what Ferguson used to do every few years to help maintain ManU’s dominance.

I think that the only way that a coach/manager can be successful at a club over a longer period of time is by refreshing the squad constantly. Poch knew this and had said that he wanted to do this but for whatever reason, it didn't happen.

Poch is fiercely loyal, his coaches are his coaches, they will stay with him wherever he goes it seems. I agree though, a different voice/style on the training ground would surely keep things fresh. Obviously no squad rotation didn’t help at all either.

I still think this might be post-hoc fallacy, Sir Alex recruited new coaches because he kept losing them to management roles.

The coaches left because the club was successful, rather than the club being successful because the coaches left.

I’ve read his book, I don’t remember that bit but assuming it’s there it’s a good story and makes him look smarter so I can see why he says it, I still don’t believe it though.

Bringing a new voice into the dressing room to run training inspires players there is no doubt about that, players are the same as everyone else in one aspect and that is you get bored hearing the same voice and doing the same drills. Players/coaches can ( and do) get stale and a new voice on the training pitch helps out. It happens at a lot of clubs from time to time and most managers accept that they need to do that.

This may be unfair, but his coaches seem like yes men from the outside looking in. Even Wenger, one of the most stubborn managers in the modern game had different coaches over the years. I’m not sure if it was through choice but I digress.

Wenger had Elton John as his number 2 until he retired and then promoted Steve Bould? I think it was more necessity in his case and it did seem like he was surrounded by yes men.

It is always great beating big teams away, especially ManU. In fact, this is our first win over the big teams away since beating ManU 3-0 away in 2018. And to get a comfortable 6-1 win away at ManU is even better ! This is a historic win as this is our biggest ever win over ManU home or away in PL/Div.1 history. We did beat ManU 6-1 in 1932 but that was a Div.2 match.

Credit to Ndombele, Son, Kane and Aurier for our goals. But our real hero was Lamela who harassed the entire ManU defence which enabled Ndombele to score our crucial first goal. Apart from that, Lamela also caused their player to get red carded which really helped us. Too bad Lamela only played in the first half as he could have troubled ManU further in the second half.

Our midfield of Ndombele, Hojbjerg and Sissoko were very effective and controlled the midfield. Thought Hojberg played really well in midfield. Similiarly, Ndombele at least showed us why we bought him for such a huge fee as he worked hard and scored the important first goal.

It was another poor goal to concede by our defence so early. It was a soft penalty given away by Sanchez. He should have been more careful. But at least we defended much better after that.

Despite this big win over ManU, we cannot get carried away as lack of fans in the stadiums due to the corona virus are causing all kinds of strange results like these. Other teams might treat us more seriously after this.

I think he would have been sent off if he’d stayed on. He was on a yellow from that incident, and had committed another potentially yellow card challenge. Add that to the United players being in the referee’s war about the challenge, and I think taking him off was sensible management by Mourinho.
