I feel like Ive been complaining about Refs a lot lately, and have been wondering if they are that bad, or am I being sensitive?
And honestly I think its because they are that bad! He was truly shocking.
They were applauding him for finally dealing with our dirty, cheating divers. Apparently we're constantly getting away with stuff.

Re: Eriksen - yeah I know what you mean. I think he made some clever runs, pulled some strings in midfield and of course got a nice assist and a goal which is always enough to get you a Sky MoM award, and enough for me to think he should be at least an option in the poll.
But yes conversely, he does look like he suffers at times from not having Kane and Alli running into the channels and link up play. He's too smart for Llorente. Just playing it to Nando's feet or head is limiting for the ol' Dane!
Re: Your daughter - haha brilliant, I again know what you mean. How old is she? I started taking mine to games at about 6 or 7. At first it was just a few friendlies and those 3rd round FA Cup ties against lower opposition. Games that meant I could focus on her and not the match. Getting her as close to the front so she could recognise the players and feel the action. But she too got bored at times and would often be aimlessly looking round the stadium or at her sweets and not the pitch. Guess it's just getting used to the environment when young.
Now however, she's 14 and we always sit in the upper tiers as she wants to understand the formations, player movements, banks of four etc etc. She's developed a much better grasp of how the game works and what to look for. Things you just can't see when at pitch level.
Persist with it mate!! Next generation and all that.

I normally defend refs as they really have an impossible job and the fault lies with fans/FA/clubs/players for the standard we have now.
However this season it is almost like they have given up knowing VAR is coming in next season.

My youngest was the same... I started taking him when he was about 7, and for several years, the highlight was always the kebab on the High Road before the game! He's 14 now and doesn't even want to sit with me anymore (rather being with his mates!) but he still can't wait to get back to the High Road kebabs!

I take my nephews regularly and also take my mates kids (costs me a packet). My oldest nephew is 17 and came to Chelsea away in the semi. The youngest is 13 and came yesterday. The other 3 nephews dont care for footy which is handy
My son is 2 and wants to go but hasn't a clue about football...

I was actually referring to players that could improve us and not journey men being passed out on loan because they can't get a game at Monaco, I'm sure Poch would have got him in if he wanted him, but he didn't.

Most on here went on and on about how poor Eriksen was.... Must have been watching a different game than us. I think he was one of, if not our best. But he only got 1 goal and 1 assist. Poor form...

I'm torn on Eriksen's performance at the moment, don't get me wrong he is one of my favourite players, but it seems to me that for a while now he has misplace quite a few simple passes and his first touch seems to let him down more often than it used to, but he is still getting those assists and goals.
I think that it might be down to perception as last season especially he was so good that any slight mistake is exaggerated as it so unexpected.
On a side not I also think he is off to Barca in the summer and that might be affecting his performance

Some final thoughts on the game.
1. We were pretty poor overall but there some good individual performances: (in order) Lloris, Sissoko, Winks
2. Players who made critical contributions at key times (in order) Lloris (save from penalty was the pivotal moment of the match) Son (decisive goal) and Eriksen (goal and assist)
3. Full backs were both poor. They both seemed to think we were playing with a back three from the beginning and were both caught well out of position on too many occasions leaving our defence horribly exposed. (This point was well made by Shearer on Motd)
4. Last but not least, we scored the first (and often crucial) goal from a CORNER. It was great to see a well worked corner routine come off. Really pleased for Sanchez that he was given a ball to attack and duly scored his first goal for Spurs from a rehearsed corner routine. It really is criminal that this was his first goal for us after nearly 18 months of going up for most dead balls when he is playing. Similarly, the lack of goals from Verts and Toby from dead balls is also shameful. We have a very strong and powerful team with largely untapped potential from dead balls. Sachez,Toby, Verts, Kane, Llorente and Dele are all strong headers of the ball. Lets continue to see well worked corners giving them every opportunity to score, rather than Eriksen's typical near post delivery which almost always doesn't clear the first man and leaves a key opportunity missed. Long may this continue.

I usually defend them too. Its a near impossible job. But....
The Son one, he’s given a yellow card when even if he didn’t think it was a pen he could have waved play on. He can't be absolutely certain its a dive and when you are questioning someones integrity you need to be imo.
Their pen, there was no decision to make as Vertonghen didn’t even make a challenge. What has he actually seen to warrant a potential match changing decision?

Check out the possessions stats, particularly in the first half. They never played us off the park, it was just that that taco Oliver stopped our players from developing any momentum. Whenever we looked threatening, Oliver would award the opposition a soft free kick. Eventually all the those set pieces built pressure. I fudging hate that maggot!
I posted this a while ago but I think the way we set up Sunday really doesn't play to his strengths. If he's part of a 3 that includes Llorente then he only really had one outlet in pace terms (in this case, Son). He's missing Dele and Kane as with those 2 and Son in a 4231 he usually has 3 potential targets with his forward passing. I know he got a goal and assist but he was restricted in general play.

I thought they were a good looking team, with a nice youthful dynamic, that actually presented very little actual incision/game changing quality.
The one that really got me was Tielemans, with the commentary positively gushing about him - but what did he actually do? Nice touch, some nice passes, and absolutely nothing of any particular worth.
I like Maguire. I thought Barnes looked bright (but raw), similarly Ghezzal. Maddison was annonymous, Gray was out of position 90% of the time. Pereira had some nice touches but was caught out. Chilwell - I really dont see what the fuss is about (plenty linking him on here as a target). And I have to say I think Schmeichal is a very good keeper.
"Played us off the park" is utter nonsense.
While we were far from our best, even with a basically hamstrung attack we were the better team and deserved winners - despite them having the ref onside for the whole game. He even tried to give them a goal with a penalty that never was, and they still lost.
