***OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs KAA Gent***

Poch always talks about how much he trusts our squad. Time for them to repay his faith. Guys need a rest, and I'd rather have a stronger side against a decent Fulham team.

----------Vorm------------
Trips--CCV---Wimmer--Davies
----Winks----Dier (C)-------
Nkou---Sissoko---Sonny
-------Janssen--------

The first team players have only played 5 games in the last 40 days. They don't need a rest.
We have 4 games coming up. Gent away, Fulham in the Cup, Gent home, Stoke home.

The first team will be playing against Stoke. You don't want any of them playing in that Gent home game a few days before.
The key is killing this tie in the first leg with 3 away goals and fielding a complete second string in the 2nd leg.
The second string can surely beat Fulham in the cup.

Personally think the next three games will say alot about our ambitions as a club, we are not going to win the league so the Cups are the only thing we have left.

If we field weak sides it will send out the message we are happy to not win things and just finish in the top 4.

We can rest players in the second leg of the EL if need be

Poch doesn't have any form for playing a strong side in these games.

However, I get the feeling hes taking it a bit more seriously now because our home games are at Wembley and wants to get as much practice playing there before our league games next season....

The players need to get that Liverpool game out of their system so I'd play most of them again again versus Gent.

I'd rest Dembele and play Winks alongside Wanyama. I'd also drop Eriksen back into a central role ..

..............................Loris
Walker.........Toby..................Wimmer...... Davies
...............Wanyama...........Winks
............................Eriksen
............Alli...........Kane.............Son

I hear what you're saying, but I would rather see something closer to a full-strength side against Fulham, as there's only one chance in that game. If we lose, we're out. If we have a poor performance at Ghent with our second game, we'll have a chance to put it right in the second leg (which, obviously wouldn't be ideal).

I also think, at some point, we need to give our squad players minutes for them to grow. Players like Winks, Trippier, Vorm, Wimmer, Sissoko, Onomah, and N'Koudou need to play, and if they can't get 90 minutes against a midtable Belgian side, I don't see where that will happen.

What he needs is a rest!

I disagree. He's not mis-controlling the football because he's tired. And he certainly wouldn't want to rest I would guess. He's a fine player, and he strikes me as someone who is willing to learn from mistakes he makes.

Maybe he could learn to be awake from the start, or at least not be so bloody roostery in posession by starting on the bench.

Maybe, but I don't think that is what caused his mistake against Liverpool. I see a bit of indecision creeping into his game which is confidence related I suppose. I just think a spell in midfield might be good for him. Even a half.

I think his confidence is low because his body can't do
what he wants it to. He has looked tired and leaden to me for a little while and that indicates exhaustion. Give him a total break in these cup games and see if his mojo returns.

I'm not sure that is it. IMO he's been off the pace all season. I blame the Euros myself but who really knows.

I think you're seeing what you want to see there - he looks perfectly fine to me in a fitness sense, I don't agree either with those saying he's had a poor season, think he has been fine. Had a poor game v Liverpool but it was a tough game for us all over the pitch

You've got to be a good reader of body language to glean his fatigue.

I think you are seeing what you want to see there too ;)
I am a massive fan of Dier but he's not had a good season, certainly not compared to last. There are mitigating circumstances of course but he looks off form to me.

It'll be a windmill or some other Dutch brick

touché :D

Well I disagree, I don't think you can be part of a 3 man defense which has the defensive record we do and have a bad/not good season - he's young and still developing, the odd moment aside he has held his own for me at CB
