***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham***

And yet I got lynched here when I questioned our progression under Poch. We've reached our peak under Poch. He's not a world class tactician.
If we've 'reached our peak' who do you suggest we replace him with that can get us higher? By the way, I don't believe we have 'reached our peak under Poch' as he is a determined, competitive winner who will learn from his mistakes.

I agree

It’s hard to judge playing the whole season away from home

People also quickly forget that Poch less management experience than most of our players have playing exerpience

If people think we’re getting a better man in charge that will win the league with us by doing something different their off their heads IMO

No he's not. We created enough chances to win this game 10 times over. They just happened to score with their one shot on goal (and a worldie, at that) and we couldn't get the ball in the net. That's not Poch's fault.
None of our chances were hardly bankers, we were struggling to score. We were slow were were awful. 2 players in Particluar being Dier and Sissoko. He kept them on far too long and it was no surprise when lamela came on that we created more clearer chances. Poch didn’t change it at half time when it clearly wasn’t working. I don’t think we needed a Sissoko and dier versus this brick.

I’m not for one minute saying Poch is a bad manager or replace him at all, he just got it wrong last night. A point is better than losing so I’m ok considering we were 1-0 down and thought we would lose it, but dropped points have to go towards Poch for his tactics and starting eleven.

On another day with another Ref we may have got a penalty as it’s clear that Mike Dean has gone so far the other way after a bit of abuse that he just can’t give us anything anymore, but we shouldn’t be relying on 50/50 penalties.

Moving into space like all good footballers should. Whenever he went within 25 yards of the goal he had two men touch tight on him.

By moving out he brought them out of position, which should allow someone to make the run into the space he's cleared and collect a good through ball. Our best player at playing those balls through a packed defence was on the bench though, so instead we had Sissoko passing it to the linesman.
But they didn' follow him and leave space, they stayed in their positions.
He was constantly in the wrong place, doesn't look like he has recovered from the illness yet.

So who do you suggest we try to hire? Guardiola who only works with multi billion budgets, or Mourinho, who does the same? Some other "proven" manager who will need pockets full of money to win a trophy? An unknown coach who's doing well in Germany? Who should we hire? Who would do a better job than Poch with the resources we have available? And why do you reckon he would?

It’s what teams do now
They know if they stay organised they won’t concede
Swansea had 5 men at all times sat on the edge of the area at Wembley

They played 8-1-1 yesterday and their furthest forward player spent 95% of the game in his own half

It’s our job to break that down which is hard but doable

You have to break much quicker than we do when you get a chance (we were so slow on that front it was unreal)
You also need players who commit men with dribbles and runs and we only had Son who does that ( Walker and rose used to do it by getting behind the opposition but Davies and Aurier are too slow for that)
You also don’t need two midfielders sitting (hence why city play de Bruyne in midfield now)

We battered them yet they weren’t bruised. I tjink they got their first yellow after 90 minutes in a “local derby” which says it all

I do think of the games had been flipped round so West Ham first then Swansea it would have been 6 points rather than 4 but we still had a better Christmas period than anyone

Maybe this guy is Mou under cover or even AVB whose out of work too now

We could do with an explosive dribbler though, like Sterling at City. Very quick in the first couple of yards, so can make pace count in tight spaces.

And even against these park the bus teams, there are still chances to break in transition and pace always helps with that. We are pretty good at that anyway, but would be even better with a really fast attacker in the side. I think it's something Poch wants, but we've tried to get it with a couple of duds from Ligue 1 that haven't worked out.

I think we didn't get the rub of the green tonight, sometimes we do and will win this sort of game easily, sometimes we don't and it's a struggle.

We had one and I can,t think of his name atm.from Brentford? Sold him off after injury..but I thought this player was going to be massive!
Anyway.........he's gone

What's the right place when you have 2 or 3 defenders following you?

Others not making the runs and/or passes he creates space for is not his fault.

Really annoyed with this draw ! We have lost too many points to bottom teams so far this season. After winning our last 3 league matches, thought we would win this one to move closer to second place in the league. Instead, we failed to lift our game as needed. For all our domination, our attack looked toothless and we didn't look like scoring apart from the wonder goal by Son. We were always going to struggle against West Ham in this match. We have only completed 1 "double" home and away wins over West Ham in the last 7 seasons and that was due to that wonder goal by Bale in 2013. After our away win over West Ham earlier in the season, it was always asking us too much to do the double over West Ham this season and so it was proved !

Credit to Son for that wonder goal but he was poor apart from that, like most of our attacking players. In fact, Son lost the ball too many times trying to dribble the ball into the net instead of passing or shooting. Even Kane didn't look like scoring, lacking his usual sharpness in front of goal. This is why we should have started Kane against Swansea as he seems to have lost his goal scoring momentum now. Kane actually had 3 one-on-one chances which he should have done better. Alli and Eriksen had minimal impact in this match. Lamela assisted the goal for Son but he really should have come on much earlier. It is disappointing that Pochettino waited so long to bring on Lamela despite us badly needing a goal.

Our midfield were not really tested in the first half but struggled in the second half when West Ham started to attack. Really expected Sissoko to make an impact but he made too many mistakes. It was nice to see Wanyama coming on in the second half but he looked rusty after his injury problems. Thought it was wrong to bring on Wanyama that time as we needed more attack-minded players like Dembele or Winks to help us score a goal.

Our defence did not have to do much for most of the match. But it was really disappointing to concede yet another long range goal. It is clear all our opponents try to score long range goals. As such, our defence, especially Sanchez, should have been alert and stopped the shot instead of ball-watching. We were also very fortunate not to concede another goal late in the match when Lloris had to make a great save to rescue us. It is clear we badly miss the leadership of Alderweireld in defence.

Fortunately for us, we are no longer in the title race and ManCity have virtually won the league title this season. Otherwise, it will be hard to accept dropping these points against West Ham. But still these dropped points will surely come back to affect our top 4 race later in the season. Pochettino will be wise to strengthen our squad depth by buying quality players in this transfer window if we want to finish in top 4 this season.

Would Chelscum or arse or spammers let their rivals beat them twice in a season at home..

It's fing mentality weak when we come to these kind of games...
It's a disgrace really ...
It's a Good job I,m not their Manager..they would have the hulk bearing down on em.

They didn’t beat us twice in a season at home. They did recently beat Chelski though.

Who made me OMT starter ?!?! The mod who made me OMT starter will be fully responsible if we don't win this match ! We will need all the luck we can get in this match, no thanks to OMT being jinxed now !:(:rolleyes:

Always knew we won't win this match due to the OMT being jinxed ! This shows you can't mess around with OMTs and have to follow the tried and tested match rituals !:(:rolleyes:

You are right. Trickery, that something special is what you need then. Or worldy shots like Bale used to give us.

We really had no impact players to pull off the bench.

I still feel if we had someone like Mahrez in our team it would make a lot of difference in these situations. Someone who can do the unexpected, take on a player etc.
We do have Son, you know. But I agree that one more wouldn't hurt. Problem is how do you keep both happy with playing time.

what are some of you whiners on about ? against a team playing in their cup final, putting 11 men in front of us whenever we had the ball, hardly ventured out, ref barely blew for us ?? what is this, 'we are too slow crap' ?

wake up ! we dominated possession and strikes on goal, we didn't finish clinically - apart from one beautiful moment - and we didn't get the decisions we should have which would have seen us out of sight.

a draw, we move on - unless someone can fudging well find us a trillionaire pronto, who sees the biz op with us, loves the club - and then we can start spending silly money and buy all the top names (all roided up to the max. liver capacity) at a billion a head and a million a week on wages; will that shut you up ?? probably not *sigh*

Has anyone ever suggested he is? How many managers out there does that describe? And how many of them would be willing to work under our constraints? (Not that I, personally, would want anyone else).
I think the broad consensus is that he is a very, very good manager/coach with huge potential. One we are very lucky to have managing our club.
Our progress since he has been with us has been exceptional. We are still learning, improving and progressing. As is Poch himself. Why would you think that is suddenly going to stop? We are a long way from peaking.
