** OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR v Saudi Sportswashing Machine**

Man of the match

I must be the only person who thought Son was quite poor today, bar the goal which of course means all is forgiven as he won us the game. He started the game quite well playing off the left, but then I think he was having a rough time when he moved to the middle, and then back out left again, you could see him getting phucked off with it all as things weren't happening for him. Then boom, goal and the win!

It was quite hard to pick a MoM for this one, I don't think anybody really stood out. From the poll, I picked Sissoko, who was as good as anybody else imo.
agree with sissoko for mom - was everywhere to clean up, supported play well and efficiently, and nearly scored too.

disagree that son was poor. Saudi Sportswashing Machine sat very deep and in huge numbers. kane would have been equally nullified in this type off match too.

That goal was amazing and something i haven't seen kane pull off but its something son does many times in a match. when it does it you can be sure he is causing panic and tiring more than one defender all the time. If you've played against strikers who keeps sending you the wrong way to shoot, you know you'll be knackered by the end of the match.

I didn’t think son was that great today by his standards. Can't blame him though he must be knackered, but he kept going and showed what a trooper he is.

Just getting home now. As always the result is everything but even if this had ended nil nil I thought we’d done everything right. Every opposing attack is one for the heart rate whilst there’s a goal or even no goal in it but we always deserved the win.
Sanchez did well with Rondon, Jan did more as a third choice lb than trips, Sissoko literally didn’t pt a foot wrong and actually played within himself bar a volley which would have made it the perfect day.

Winks excellent bar a brain fart at the end, Lamela was decent too.

Not just because he scored or because I was surrounded by his fan club but Son was immense today. He’s taken the responsibility of being our main threat with both hands, so much so if we go go 3421 when everyone is fit Alli and Eriksen should worry about their place.

I advocated Llorente starting but seeing him tracking back was like watching an uncle dancing at a wedding, it might be there in the head but the rest of body is a good few seconds behind.

My view on Wembley hasn’t changed, for some reason today I started calling players (other than Toby) by their forename. I guess all those red seats whilst momentarily feeling a sense of security yet further entitlement gave me some empathy with our gypsy neighbours. Apparently I’m only one of the seven shelf silders in attendance today.

Winning is a huge antidote to the associated pain, but I can’t wait to go home. Yet we’ve won 3 games in the last ten minutes against teams looking for a point , 2 of them after providing a headstart. I have nothing but huge respect for this squad and what they continue to deliver.

Do you go to match on tube from north Greenwich?

Good reminder, we were inches away from that sickening feeling we've had so often, with a breakaway goal.
They also had a brace of good chances when Eriksen tracked back and made the block.
Fine margins Brian, but a well deserved win.

And kudos to you guys that set aside the whole day to go to a match.
Yeah these things can catch up with us as they did v Watford away and wolves. We’ve ridden our luck more than a few occasions on the pitch, also been unlucky. Right now it’s been a little bit about survival til all the lads are back. We’ve needed to ease Lamela, Moura, Llorente all into games as they’ve had periods out of the side either through injury or just not being selected.

Hopefully we can get back to the swagger we had prior to the wolves match, where we were scoring for fun.

Can’t believe Wood Work didn’t get MOM, basically if he doesn’t feature we don’t keep a clean sheet!

Serious stalker fears!

That's how I went with my family, but walk to stadium and standing on train was beyond my arthritic knees so I've not gone this season, tried driving but traffic and parking is bloody murder, cant wait to get back to the lane.

Ah ok. Yes I go via North Greenwich, usually hop across at north Finchley to the met to save a couple of minutes. Jubilee design is annoying with the lack of seats. WHL I used to go maze hill to London Bridge, then northern line to bank, central to Liverpool Street then overland to Bruce Grove as I like to go to the Ship beforehand. The worst thing about Wembley, travel wise is being held before the tube, I prefer to be moving or drinking after the game (I do recommend the box park if you did want to split that walk from the tube to the ground and have a nibble or decent beer as opposed to the sub zero bud they serve in the windy concourse at Wembley, seriously I don’t think I’ve ever drink beer that gives me ice cream style brain freeze!)

Will you drive to new WHL?

Yeah 3 of us go and hopefully I'll have my disabled parking badge in a couple of weeks. We use to park in the school behind the East stand but they use the parking for the "Christian Church" which uses it now.

Get the bus from london bridge to liv st, it's quicker if you're coming in on national rail

Good to continue our winning run to move into 2nd place in the league. But we again made hard work of it. For the 3rd consecutive league match, we had to rely on late goal to win. We really need to be more clinical in front of goal. Before the late goal, the likes of Moura, Lamela, Sissoko, Eriksen and Llorente had chances to score which they failed to do. Just when it looked like we could get our first draw of the season, we got fortyunate that the Saudi Sportswashing Machine goalie made a blunder to let Son's shot went in for our crucial goal.

Credit to Son for the goal and Llorente for the assist. Son's shot was not even great but the goalie failed to stop it. This is why we should make more long range shots instead of always trying to dribble the ball into the net. Apart from that, we had other chances to score which we wasted. The most annoying miss was by Moura who failed to head the ball properly after being set by Lamela in the first half. That was a 2-on-one chance as Moura and Sanchez were all alone with the goalie. Moura had all the time in the world to control the ball and shoot it into goal or let it go to Sanchez. Instead he headed it wide wildly. Lamela had a good match and was unlucky not to get a goal and assist. Apart from his inch perfect cross which was wasted by Moura, Lamela too hit the post with his header. Eriksen had a poor game but almost scored in the second half when his shot was saved on the goal line by the defender. Llorente also had a chance to score but send his header wide in the second half.

Our midfield of Sissoko and Winks had a good match even if we were not really troubled by Saudi Sportswashing Machine. Sissoko looked sharp in this match. In fact, he almost scored in the first half when his shot was saved by the goalie. Winks too looked composed for most of the match.

Our defence didn't have much to do in the match. It was good to see Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Sanchez have an error-free match. I think Vertonghen was our best player as he helped our attack much with his good crosses. Lloris had a few good saves but was not really troubled for most of the match.

With this win, we have now set a new PL record for going 29 matches without getting a draw. That helped us to move into 2nd place in the league for a while but we cannot get carried away. We still have many tough matches left in the league, especially Liverpool, Mancity, Chelsea away and Arsenal at home. just imagine, if we had beaten Wolves at home and Watford away instead of losing both, we would be near the top of the league now !

Another win. Another non-draw:eek:
Another late goal (we must now be the scariest team to be going into the last 10 mins drawing against).
Another Son goal.
And probaly best of all: A BLEEPING CLEAN SHEET!!

COYFS:)

Ive mentioned it before (I think) but it really struck me again today.

Player of massive potential, unrealised
Excellent at defending
Does very little in attack
Popular with team mates and fans
Works his socks off

Lamela = Aaron Lennon

That’s a good comparison Nayim. I’d argue he does more in attack than Lennon especially when you consider Lennon’s pace. Although Lennon was more two footed than Lamela is.

Lamela was arguably our best player for the first couple of months this season, his end product has dipped again and he needs to recapture that early season form.

As things stand now, Eriksen, Alli and Son are the clear first choice players behind Kane. Moura and Lamela both need to rediscover their early season form.

The one thing I loved Lennon for, that always seemed to never be appreciated was his touch. It was Berbatov level quality, absolutely sublime.

I dont think Lamelas end product has ever really been there, just occasional short spells where he is productive before regressing to his usual output of "not a lot".

I think he can be key in putting players in good positions, but otherwise his offensive contribution leaves a lot to be desired.
