***OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR v nottingham forest***

Very poor half of football. Defensively, you just can’t believe what you’re watching. Acres of space down the sides, centre backs losing the ball on the wing in the opposition half, absolutely no protection.

Sons been abysmal and Johnson offers no protection when we need it. I’d hook both and bring on Werner and Maddison and try to stretch them a bit because they’re very compact and we’re struggling to get through.

Good performances? Maybe Bentancur, Sarr and Deki’s been industrious. Been very lacklustre other than them.

Where was Bentancur for the goal, he's supposed to be a DM isn't he?

For their gaols we had numbers back
But we were going backwards which is the worst way to defend
For their goal we had 4 defenders running backz they had 4 attackers. We had a 5th player but he was behind the last Notts Forest player. Even then 5 Vs 4 that's hardly stacking things in our favour. That's asking for what happened to happen imo.

If you attack with a 5 across the line it is. It's not working cause we don't do it

There are various ways to implement it but most tactical systems maintain cover in the wide area and central shield. We just have a central shield of 1 player and then wonder why he's constantly not where the danger is.

It wouldn't matter if we had Rodri in there, he'd still get overrun

For me, it only works when there is anticipation from players. Rodri obviously has that in abundance.

What Spurs fans want to talk about is full-backs becoming centre mids. What they forget is that those centre mids HAVE to become full-backs, just like we saw from Bentancur who became the right back. Johnson didn't have the smarts to deal with what was happening. He was inside. Sarr had no anticipation and made it even worse by just getting into slow jog mode, probably because he's running on fumes.

Once again, we are back in the territory of a superb player like MGW running 30-40 yards with a ball. Then an average defender, Udogie, not knowing what to do gets undone so easy with nobody on the cover.

This stuff is ugly from Ange. I'd just rather have the triangle of 2 centre halves and a number 6 shielding back.

They want a fight, a battle
We have a few player who rally really don’t like that and shy away from it
Worrying
When I looked at the starting line ups before the game, theirs is by far the strongest. Their GK and defense better. Midfield better and attacking, far far superior.

Sad times but when Forest first eleven trumps yours you know it's a sad state of affairs.

That Yates is a nuisance, mile's better than any of our CMs

I can’t fathom it
My 8 year old shows more fight than him
He hit one super first time pass before Johnson’s first chance. Been dreadful other than that. Doing a lot of sideways and backwards passing when he’s not losing the ball.

We’ve been doing a lot of sideways and backwards passing which must be driving Ange mad. Think it’s a sign of how well Nuno has them set up and how lacking in energy we are. Really think Werner for Son helps in that respect. He’ll stretch them if nothing else.

Notwithstanding the easy goal we gave away, I thought we were comfortably the better side for that half. Hopefully we find something clinical in front of goal in the second period. We seem to dither too often and the opportunities pass - there were a couple of decent chances to shoot in the first few minutes and we got nothing away.

Son looks off it again. Also, (and this happens every season) I’m surprised by how dirty Forest are. When their Number 8 got booked he could’ve already been on a yellow for an earlier challenge (on Johnson?).
