*** OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR v MILLWALL ***

Because the last time we played them, we turned over one of their pubs and they don't get the chance to have a pop at one of the big guys very often. Did you see what they did the last time they played at the Boleyn Ground?

Most/all the pubs were shut and West Ham is the main rival.

For me having that number and the funnelling after the game (both sets of fans together) aggravated more than helped.

Is everyone agreed this was DEFINITELY the last FA Cup game at The Lane? No late change in plan from Levy given our terrible run at Wembley? I had read elsewhere that there was a school of thought that said that we could do most (if not all) of next season at The Lane.

The decision is being made on the 23rd March.

Levy is leaving it until as late as possible in case there are delays with construction etc in the meantime. Any delay in moving will be down to that not our record at Wembley.

I get that West Ham are their main rival but we have previous.

From conversations that I have had with mates who follow football league clubs (one of which is a Millwall fan) this kind of police presence is typical when they play. My Blackpool supporting mate says that going to the New Den is the safest away game in the country because you get a police escort from central London to the ground and back again.

I've been to the Den a number of times to watch Brighton play there and tbh I've never seen any trouble - mainly for the reasons above.

Also why not just keep them in for 15 minutes instead, if they are that bad letting everyone else at once is a bit silly, the Millwall fans I was around queuing for the tube were getting irate with the waiting and slow pace of the walk.

TBH I don't understand wanting to punch someone for sitting in a different area of the ground.....

I went to the New Den when Harry was on loan to them (and he scored). It was a 2-2 draw with Blackpool. There was no trouble and no sign of any. The Blackpool fans walked down the lane under the bridge with the Millwall fans, bought burgers, etc. Not a hint of anything kicking off. That said I wouldn't like to be down that cul-de-sac if it did!

I put it down to low personal esteem, and a desperate need to belong to a group.

Their 'que sera, going to Shrewsbury' got them a modest laugh and applause from our fans.

Entertaining for something akin to a walkover. Too many really silly mistakes, but the noise when VJ scored and subsequent VJ songs was superb.

The Police today were a joke, massive overkill for a fixture that wasn't likely to cause much problems.

I've never seen that many police for a game, not even for Chelsea/West Ham
I can't dance more. Took my son and it definitely felt safer. Would you rather the police gamble on whether it may or may not go off? When was the last time there was trouble at a Chelsea or West Ham fixture?

That's fair enough and to be honest they are there for the likes of you and your son.

I don't think it would have been a gamble to have less police, but I'm not in a position of power (probably for the best by the looking of this thread) I can only speak from the area I was in, but it seemed to wind more people up.

People just play up to the situation knowing the police are there to protect them, I saw some clever Spurs fans in one of the pubs giving it large to a bunch of Millwall fans on the way back to Secen Sisters, would that have happened if there wasn't loads of police?

I enjoyed the game, they weren't very good, but that's what I expected. The only down side on the day for me was the idiot in the Paxton with a whistle, who thought it was amusing to keep blowing it during the game. I am a miserable sod and dislike all such instruments used to make a noise at sporting events and I hate the "Mexican Wave"

I took my 11 year old nephew and it felt safe as houses

We didn't see any agro other than the guy in the box above the shelf

just seen the highlights (been at a family do today), is the millwall keeper going to be helping with some enquiries I wonder

reading through this thread, I can't fathom why millwall haven't been thrown out of football yet, if they bring such trouble and a heavy resource requirement whilst causing interference to those unrelated to football everywhere they go they shouldn't be allowed in professional competitions

aside from that where did they get the massive chip on their shoulder in the first place?

you don't see the other irrelevant little london clubs like charlton, palace and barnet behave like this

I don't get this forum sometimes, We just won a FA cup QF 6-0, one of our players scored a hat-trick and you're all talking about the Old Bill ? what gives?

What happened there? I was at the very back of East Upper so couldn't see

Not sure
From the PL it looked like a drunk millwall fan was in the box and got lary with the people below (on his own)
Someone from another box tried climbing over to lump him and when he was stopped (after climbing over at least one other box) he launched something at him like a cab
The millwall fan then got dragged inside

Surely it's down to the area(s) from which they draw their support from? No offence to places like Bermondsey or New Cross but they're not the nicest parts of London to be diplomatic. West Ham are similar. You wouldn't get that type of behaviour from Fulham fans for example would you? Or Monaco, if they see their team get beat they just get on their yachts after the game.
