OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Man United ** 16/2/25 - KO at 4.30pm.

I genuinely think United could go down this season. They are much worse that Ipswich
United won’t go down but your right they are truly awful, worse than us but they are more negative than us although at times offered more going forward in that second half than we did and that, once again, is a major concern

To think...a few of the first team come back and we're able to close out a game. Who'd have thought? Our first choice keeper comes back and immediately has an impact. Shocker.

Several odd choices from our forwards, but yet again, a new CF in Tel and everyone will learn hos movement (BTW I thought he sdhowed great promise)...I really enjoyed Odobert's cameo (I know very little about him FWIW), and Johnson off the bench second-half was huge and had we had our shooting boots on would've made the difference. Spence again so good, Bergvall really good, and a fine performance from Maddison. This season might yet yield a massive surprise (positive one)...

It's been a bit lost but I thought Bergvall was great today.

Pretty sure three of their six shots on target all came in the same scramble early on!

Surprised how many shots there were all game - neither team looked like scoring any more!

That goalmouth scramble provided ManUre with as many shots on target as they’ve had in the previous 3 PL matches put together!!!

Thank feck that Vicario didn’t look rusty after his lay-off.

No, we should aim for 69 points! That's the maximum we can get, and we should aim to win every single game we play!

100% this. We need a winning mentality at the club and that means that we going into every match desperate to win. That our players will run into brick walls for us if needed to do so. That our supporters forget their disliking of whichever members of the club that they don’t like, for 90 minutes. That we all support us to the best that we can. That’s the winning mentality and that’s what we need at the club. We need players that don’t accept defeat and that know that dropping points isn’t acceptable. Only then can we become the team that we want to be.

Was that the one where someone cleared it off the line or when it was going across the goal? Right in front of us, thought that were a certain goal.

Anyone else and that's probably in, United are cack.

That said, that second half we didn't quite click in the final third and we should have put them to bed.

GHod knows how Son lasted 85 minutes, he was genuinely awful again.

What I do know is that driving to Spurs, and going to Spurs, isn't that fun anymore for me. The lane is full of knobheads (probably me included) but I don't get the buzz anymore. I was a moaning old clam half of the game, think I'm best left to moan on my own in front of the Tele.

Not sure how I can get my head out of being a misery with Spurs, genuinely don't.

That was Davies making sure that Dalot’s cross/shot didn’t reach Hojlund for a tap-in.

You do have both the ability and license to control your thoughts and to ignore the stupid.

Sorry if nobody has pointed this out to you before.

Thoughts on the game

Our intensity was in a different league to theirs. With the week off and the deeper match day squad, we looked a better side. Not a side that would win a game through our tactical system, but one that would win it on effort based on our much superior squad.

Defence got a clean sheet, but not sure how. Venom and Danso were solid enough but Davies was shaky again. More importantly, the midfield setup especially in the wide areas didn't make it easy for our centre halves to protect Venom. That is even though our full-backs played well.

We were less than clinical up front in the second half. A bunch of poor decisions in key moments turned into half chances rather than match winning ones. Ange seriously needs to coach our players when and how to cross the ball.

Such a shame to see Bents with an ice pack on his knee and also Danso brought off with an injury. We don't need 2 more injuries in this squad. Dragusin is a box defender, and that was such an underestimated part of the Dragu/Gray partnership. I would dread Davies/Gray in some of the scenarios that Dragu dealt with. If Danso is injured and none of the other are available, then we could be in for a tough couple of weeks.

A win is a win though. Onwards and upwards.

You post something like this every week. Just don't go? Give your ticket to someone who'll enjoy it and support the team.

I get that it's hard to give up on something like football but it genuinely sounds like you would be better off if you did.

timely returns and the fresh legs were extremely useful - vicario and madds particularly were influential.

maddison started to wane after 60 mins and bergvall who was covering a lot of ground deserved a rest. However we didn't have the same control in the midfield and going forward after the changes.

grey is not a CB and will not end up as one - so the faster we get the other CBs back the better for us and him - i we stunting his development by not playing him more forward?

good to see odobert back but i thought he should have come on earlier. Son was leggy all match, as was Kulusevski.

its early days but mathys tel doesn't impress me. just seems a regular player with a bit more mobility and speed, but so wasteful in passing and shooting.

i am expecting spence to earn an england recall in the next 12 months, and well deserved when it happens.

but overall the football was a hard watch - quite clearly two bottom half of the table sides slogging it out.

You have no idea how privileged you are to be able to attend games regularly, and support this magnificent team and club, being a part of it, and have the opportunity to add to the atmosphere at our magnificent stadium!

I try to attend a couple of games every season, and for each game I go to, it costs me pretty much the same as a season ticket!
Feeling miserable going to games, is your choice! Seems like you've made up your mind beforehand to feel that way. Get a grip and support the team. Right now you sound like an entitled glory hunter Manc supporter!

I know I do and I do take what I have for granted. The couple I want with asked how long I had the ticket and I said 30 years, which made me think whilst driving home how lucky I am.

I just think the last couple of weeks when I've had no WhatsApp groups to moan in, I've actually been better off mentally as no one has to listen to my crap. Also the current form hasn't helped but not an excuse.

As soon as I get amongst spurs people I just let my emotions run high.

Don't get me wrong there were times yesterday when I cheered them on and gave encouragement, ie all of the first half but, second half onwards when I was just moaning and Son and Ange. I don't like myself when I'm like that and I feel I've let myself down, as well as those that I'm sitting with.

Something for me to work on but if I speak about it more It means I can do something about it rather than end up a misery.

There is one positive though, looks like you've unignored me, even if it is temporarily 😊

Tbf I've been twice, Everton and yesterday.

I can't go because of other commitments like wife is working most weekends so probably a blessing, but I get your point.

This is my seat btw. I did stay at the end and clap everyone though, so not all doom and gloom.

Not quite sure what people expected.

I expected an improved performance (players back and some rest). Thought we got that. For significant stretches we looked rather comfortable, but then there were moments when they broke were we looked too vulnerable. Also the period in the second half when we struggled to get out and they had us under some sustained pressure.

To me that's pretty much what should be expected at this point. Get a first choice CB back, a couple of weeks for the players who have been injured and/or fatigued to get back to good match fitness levels. That's when I would think it's realistic to hope/expect that we look more solid defensively. Will still happen at times, but fewer of those vulnerable moments at the back.

Even just VdV back probably cuts their chances almost in half as about half of their shots resulted from a long ball in behind that he would heve just swept up. (That's not a statistical claim, just gut feeling).

Got away with it a bit in that game. Back to being more aggressive and front footed like the coach wants us to play, but back to giving up quite a few opportunities to punish us at the other end. Luckily Utd are awful. Positive was the returning players gave us a clear energy boost, Danso continued his positive start and Tel looked lively upfront at times.
