***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool***

But people don't trust anyone from the Scottish League, probably rightly so 9 out of 10, but there's a lesson to be learned there.
Maybe you don't, but football is international. It doesn't matter where a player comes from. All that matters is their quality, their attributes and how well suited to your requirements they are. So for me I honestly don't care, I'd sign a Mongolian sheep farmer if he's good enough.

The key part of course is that analysis to determine if a player is indeed good enough, but I don't really care about how the fans feel. How they feel doesn't make a material difference to the quality of the player.

Hm, not sure I believe you on that, are you one the posters who belittle Ange's success elsewhere?
What's the difference between ange and vdv in Scotland?

You've got me confused with someone else. I've never criticised Ange's run in Scotland. I have no reason to, I never paid attention to it. I only ever speak on matters that I actually know or witnessed.

Look through my post history you'll see over the years I'm really consistent on this. I don't care where you come from, it's your ability that matters not the league you've played in previously.

My apologies.
It's difficult comparing across leagues, for me vdv and Wanyama for instance were obvious talents and we should have been in there.
Don't think vdv would have came to us mind you, or if he did if would have hung around, he really wanted Liverpool.

I also doubt he would have joined from Southampton as City were supposedly also interested and he stuck with the idea of going to Liverpool so absolutely no problem there.

I'm moreso saying he's the kind of playing we should be scouting whilst he was Celtic, where yes I think he would have joined considering he even went to Southampton.

It's been a bone of contention for me for years, the way we wouldn't take a bold step and sign the talented but unproven players and instead either went for the proven guys that we couldn't sign or the 2nd class options.

I do think we are working differently now, signing the likes of Bergvall, Gray, Yang, Johnson etc are exactly the kind of moves we should be making. Now the 2nd part to that is not then resting on your laurels when you think you've signed a few good players. We need to player trade intelligently, like for example I would sell Johnson now if possible. We've played him, evaluated him and seen he's not to the level we require so you move him on and you bring in someone else.

I don't think vdv would have come here because it would have hampered his move to Liverpool, but we should have at least being identifying him.
We are/were very risk adverse with some transfers, a gamble now and again isn't a bad thing.

You mean VVD not VDV
You mean averse not adverse
