*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Everton (Goodison Park, Sun 3rd Nov @ 13:30) ***

Good result in the grand scheme of things and very good first half. Can't just keep knocking however, got to score when we use so much energy.

We could have done with Siggi in the first half (on the left).

Well done to Verts on the left, makes a huge difference to our balance.

Outstanding from The Beast - totally took out Lukaku.

Lloris, hope he is well.

COYS

I disagree it is an OK result rather than a "good" result. If we have aspirations of top 4 or winning trophies we have to grind out results like this especially on a weekend where both Chelsea and Liverpool lose.

Watched up to 60 mins then had to leave so seemed like I missed the dross. :)

Oh well regardless of performance, at least a good point.

It is a good point. And to be fair, we kept a clean sheet away at Goodison, which points towards us having a genuinely solid base. We didn't really give up too many chances either.

Very strange first sub by AVB. Taking off Sandro, who was expertly shackling Lukaku and providing the impetus for our thrusts forward with his energetic recoveries, and replacing him with Dembele, who failed to deal with Everton's thrusts forward anywhere near as adequately and thus left us under the cosh for a good half an hour. The Sig for Lennon one I got, and Eriksen for Holtby I could just about get, but the impact of both those subs was negated by us surrendering the momentum to Everton with the first one.

Still, a point in difficult circumstances is nothing to sniff about. Considering the way our neighbors dismantled Liverpool, though....I know I won't be alone in thinking that we could have done just a little bit better today. Sigh. Onwards and upwards, I suppose.

We had our chances to win. Deeply frustrating. But its what we should expect with a young pretty new team.

Some of our play first half was excellent.

There is one thing we are missing - The Assist.

At the end say Sigi shoot, had he crossed Paulinho would have tapped in. When we have possession and are facing their back four, we run around them, but are not experienced or drilled to find that assist.

What we need are runners from midfield or the wing - but don't pass to them - pass to Soldado, who then cushions the ball into the space for the runner. That kind of thing. Its too obvious at the moment.

Where is the assist!?

Over to you AVB.

A good draw, in the scheme of things for me. Neither did enough to win it - two shouts for pens, could've been sorted on that. So where we are in the league right now after this game, we'd all agree is fair and what we want ? The only thing that I'd expect a change is Emirates Marketing Project's and pool's positions.

today for the 1st time i thought townsend looked very leggy today. maybe its time to take him out for 2-3 games. he's still young

Everton are a strong team this year and tbh I expected us to get out fought today and lose but that never happened. Their fans though appear to be completely clueless. A fair result, we never really looked like scoring and perhaps last year a GB special would have decided the game, this year we were out of luck. A good solid performance and a well earned point.

You surely don't think that Everton are a small team who were just going to open up for us?

Some people need a slight reality check IMO

No I don't think Everton are a small team but they are beatable - when are we going to move away from this attitude that we cannot beat a good team away from home and we should be happy with a draw. That's why we have only won a league cup and champs league once in recent years. We need to move on and be ambitious isn't that why we brought in AVB and spent £100million in the Summer?

I get that a point there is a good result in the grand scheme of things, but with the ease that we dominated the first half I'm a little disappointed that we dropped off so much in the second and didn't get the win.

I think his injury impacted him more than you think. He needs his arms to run and if its in pain, which seemed to be the case, it will impact him negatively

what do you get out of watching Spurs? were you around for the 1961 side and you're comparing every spurs team since to that or something?

hahaha nope. I'm just giving my opinion. I think Lennon lacks in end product, and it looks like Townsend might suffer from a similar problem. Perhaps with Townsend it'll come when the team starts "clicking" (which is apparently just around the corner).

I think Lennon has proved to be a 5 assist and three goal a season man, at a rough guess. Do you disagree?

Yeah but it's not exactly an isolated incident is it? 10 games, 9 goals and three of them were penalties, against the European heavyweights of Hull, Palace, Cardiff, Norwich, West Ham, Villa and Swansea. And it was no better last year.So either AVB thinks this is fine (it's not), or he's not hood enough at his job.

Not poor at all mate it's just we are playing to his strengths atm.

He still needs time but can't see much from him

His movement is crap
Doesn't lay the ball off well
Can't header
Rushes the shots he has

Just don't like what I've seen so far from him

Chelsea lost at Goodison. I think that's a more apt comparison than what they do the same weekend.

At the moment we spent a lot of money on a striker that just doesn't fit our current system or personnel.
With high pressing, possession and fairly ponderous build up, we need a more physical presence in the box, who can scrap for the scrappy ball we are getting in, the loose crosses, etc.

i thought we played a bit better with Eriksen on, but that might have just been the effect of fresh legs.

And was Holtby playing left mid at one point???
