No it's not disgraceful. It was a clear penalty and the non-call was a game-changer, both for the pen and the red card that should have been issued. If the shoe was on the other foot, we'd be screaming bloody murder. Let's take our Spurs glasses off and look at things a bit more objectively.

However, I was particularly upset with Aguero's challenge on Wanyama, leading to the goal.
He didn't get the ball, brought Victor down and their other defender took the ball.
MOTD shows this yet no one mentioned it.

Coming out of the ground my Dad said to me "You know what, everyone in the top 6 will be happy with that result" and I couldn't agree more. The most impressive thing about Spurs today was the defence and organisation. I feel like Spurs are gradually shaking off the 'sexy' tag. That could have been another 5/6-0 today, but the amount of times City got behind to only have 4/5 bodies between the ball and net within a few seconds was frustrating from my point of view, but must be very encouraging from yours. The level of commitment is something to be proud of.

The penalty incident didn't look like much to me to be honest, but then again I haven't seen it since. I think with every officiating controversy, it's important to stress the ref can only see it once. I've heard lots of criticism aimed towards the referee today, but I thought he did well in a very rough game. He missed poor tackles from us, and missed poor tackles from you.

I think we can all agree how entertaining the match was though? 15 minutes after Sane's goal, the game was so, so stretched. It's a cliche but it was like a basketball at that point. Crazy to see at high-level football that neither team put their foot on it and tried to control the tempo, but it really fired the stadium up.

On that point, I want to finish on mentioning the Spurs fans. From what I can remember, the only team to sell out all three tiers in that stand. I now understand why you got such good attendances in the Champions League, terrific effort.

Yep. Stonewall penalty. But not easy to see for the ref. We got very lucky.

Agreed. Mostly it has been the other way around for as long as I can remember (at least against the top teams), so this is refreshing for a change.
 
A very shaky first half but an improved second half with the switch in formation. Heads could easily have dropped after conceding the 2nd. But they didn't. This team has a resilience and spirit that we have not seen in a long while. A point well won.

Agreed that it was ball to hand. That said, it seems strange that the rules allow a goal to stand in the circumstances. If the ball didn't hit his hand he was never going to control it and he therefore wouldn't have scored. Can that be right?

Someone on the Internet claims Sterling was offside when he was played through for the penalty incident.

Agreed with @Mikey10 about the handball - no intention, but he gained an advantage from handling it, so that's a free kick any day. His arm wasn't close to his body either. I've seen countless similar situations resulting in free kicks for the opposition.
 
One of our biggest problems yesterday IMO was Dembele ( who is one of my favourite players btw). He had his worst game for some time. He seemed to revert to his style of a couple of seasons ago. He either dribbled into dead ends or lost possession. He wasn't able to help us beat the press, which is where he has been so key to our progress. As a consequence, Eriksen wasn't able to find his usual space and the wingbacks and Kane did not receive their usual service and were too often caught out of position.

Dembele's performance therefore had negative knock on effects throughout the team and may even have contributed to Lloris' uncharacteristic nervousness and poor distribution - but there can be no excuse for his clangers, which were solely down to him.

I thought that as well but then thought am I only the one who saw that as a foul
 
The biggest issue we had yesterday was their 5 man attack

We didn't work out how to get pass it so our full backs didn't get enough chances to go forward and we had relentless pressure on our defence

Sometimes going long is the answer and they knew that... hence both their goals coming from a hopeful long ball and a hopeful cross

Second half was much more even with the changes we made, and the only shot they had of note other than the gals was sterlings which should have been a pen

We were lucky but the reality is they had all that good play and didn't score. They scored from some howlers from Hugo. I know it doesn't work like that but if we didn't gift them the goals, maybe we would have won 2 nil
 
After watching MotD I'm convinced Walker should be banned for life and we should be relegated to Division 2. In this crazy world of hyperbole and viewer number bias it's good to see such clear thinking.

That photo is from after the pass was played. I have re-watched the MOTD highlights probably 20 times now, and Sterling does not look to be in an offside position when the ball is played. Aguero was offside though, but not involved in the play.

This is from when the ball was played. Doesn't look offside to me, but a bit hard to tell, actually. If you look at the stripes in the grass it looks like Rose on the left back plays him onside, and probably Wanyama too.

Just watched the game again.

First thought. In real time, you can see why Walker's push wasn't given. It's a contact sport. Two players jostle side by side all over the park every game. Obviously Walker is trying to put him off and yeah, if it happened to us I'd be annoyed because I'm a Spurs fan and football is tribal like that. But in real time, it's not the huge injustice that the TV made it out to be. And Poch is right, if we want to complain as much as possible about that, we can complain of the Sane handball.

Secondly, I feel no sympathy for Pep or City not winning after being the better team. No doubt, they imposed their game on us rather than the other way around, and it was one of our worst performances for some time. But Pep and City make their bed and need to lie in it. He's an idealist and wants to play an ultra attacking version of football. He chose to play Toure as the only protection for the defence. He chose to play Kolarov at centre back. So we scored two goals from 2 chances because they were nailed on, clear chances that were easy to score. Almost all of their chances we were able to get men around the ball. Yes it was last ditch but it meant we never came them and easy chance and sometimes we need to do that. We have Dele head the ball in from a yard out and Son with a chance dead centre in the box.

If they want to complain that they played well but didn't win they'll sound like we did in the Jol or Harry years. I loved how our players looked in their interviews. Almost unapologetic that we got something. They make their own bed. Play an extreme type of football which means if they do get breached, they concede very easy chances, up to them.
 
Seen a couple of pictures of the Sterling "offside". Still not sure whether he was or not. I felt he was off at the time. It would have helped if MOTD even attempted to clear it up.

As for the foul, in a strange way I feel for Sterling. Yes it was a foul, but the push wasn't exactly hard. Just enough to throw him off balance slightly. However if he had gone down like Shearer and Gullit said he should, it would have looked ridiculous and there would have been more chance of him getting booked for simulation than getting the penalty. Clever from Walker and a no win situation for Sterling.

Anyway, doesn't even begin to make up for the Balotelli on Parker stamp so f*ck em.
 
And this is why Pep suffers such big defeats, and why Bravo is posting such bad statistics. The chances he faces have a lot higher probability of conversion so if they don't convert their own, they will suffer. Don't feel bad at all about the result. We ended the game with Wanyama at centre back. This can be a very good season for us.
