***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Burnlio, Sat Jan 24th, 3pm***

Honestly thought we were by far the better team and fully deserved to win that. Surprised by the negativity I’m seeing. Ridiculous errors for their goals but we had by far the better chances.
People have made their minds up already. At this point only wins will change them. It was never really about "seeing attacking football" it was a dislike or Frank and a dislike of losing.

I think that’s too simplistic. He looked bad against wham. But he does offer things. Running with the ball, can finish, tracks back. Just needs to feel in the groove. He has that big guy nonchalant lolloping look that drives fans crazy. But he’s not lazy. And has talent if not confidence.
Nah. He does chase back but his quality on the ball has been really poor.

Hmm we had this same problem with Solanke last season. He very rarely had any shots on goal and was constantly feeding on scraps if you remember. It got to the point that people made the excuse that he was used as a pressing point rather than a focal attacking point.

Maybe we need to accept that either this squad isn't good at creating chances for him or he's not a potent threat?
I don't think Solanke is a potent threat. His goal tallies over the last 5 seasons show that. However, I think he is great at pressing and holding onto the ball. But for £60m he isn't showing that value. I don't see him creating something out of nothing, which means he needs a lot of service.

If we are going to do loads of crosses into the box then Solanke needs to be higher up the pitch, which will take away his good work pressing.

Yup, I just watched the entire match on Sky Sports’ Game of the Day and we should’ve won comfortably but for a couple of sloppy defensive errors and Dubravka having a good game plus our front line being as clinical with their finishing as Darren Bent!

Even if we could find a Defoe level striker (let alone another Kane or Son) that would elevate our lacklustre attack immensely.

It would simply paper over the cracks, game showed nothing new

- Burnley are poor, once we went at them (same as West Ham) they struggled.
- Weird lineup choice, while I get Spence had a good game at Dortmund, is he really our LW?
- Same old 2nd half drop off
- Too slow on the subs, momentum was changing, we needed to win this game
- 3 CBs against Burnley for 70+ minutes, utterly ridiculous.

Still too much where we just don't do the basics right, don't look coached compared to the opposition

2 wins in 15 but we have to hear about how we played well against utter brick promoted sides

You'll be waiting a long time for Muani's chops to rescue you from a relegation scrap. I believe it's called desperation. It was the same with Solanke being absent for so long. If only we could get him back, he'd be the saviour. Then, when he just puts the ball straight at the keeper, the same as before, "Oh." Same as all of them. They just aren't very good. Because guess what? We've spent window after window after window buying players who fit in just that category.

Muani don’t care what happens to us nor Xavi, Tel Richy etc etc. players that have no real feelings as to whether we stay up or go down, desire to smash West Spam or not. Gone are the days where players wore our shirt with pride

If you simply ignore the fact that Burnley like West Ham, like Fulham, like fudging every PL team we have played all season simply look better coached than us, knew how to do transitions, knew where their teammates were meant to be

Against a team not renowned for their expansive daring football, no I don't think it is to be expected.
No but they are well set up at home. I don’t see the point of focusing on those stats, because it doesn’t matter how fast you run after the ball. More importantly, we took more shots and had more on target. That’s what you need to score goals. In fact if I was TF I wouldn’t even bother with the sprint stats, I’d be more concerned why we allowed Burnley to overload our right side- twice.

There's no need to ignore anything. We've basically been on a downward trend quality-wise for five or six seasons. Where we are now is just about on the line. Kane and Son carried us for years.

Most of the shots were pretty routine for the keeper, there's maybe two saves there that I think he's done well at.
Some of those were yards over the bar.

I'm seeing a lot their keeper kept them in it, we should have been out of sight first, for me he made one decent save, the one from Gallagher when he was on the floor, the rest were routine at best.
Tel’s shot at 1-1. Odobert shot in the first half. Those were 2 I remember off the top of my head. Then there was Simons shot that came back off the crossbar.

Yup, Solanke is the only CF in our squad who can hold-up the ball competently but his finishing is about Heskey level with 37 goals in 134 appearances (totalling 10,205 minutes) over the past 4 seasons since he became a regular starter in the PL; an average of 276 minutes per goal.

Odobert shoots like a typical winger but is young enough to hopefully come on leaps and bounds in years to come.

18 months, not 5 or 6 seasons and would have been easily recoverable with right moves. This narrative that the team has been trash since Poch is revisionism at it's finest.

4th, 6th, 7th, 4th, 8th, 5th, 17th with 2 cup finals and a Europa win.

Reality the team was less than 5 points off top 4 in December, if the club had fired Frank then, brough in a decent manager and given them a signing or two in Jan window we would have everything to still play for. Now the goal is not to be squeaky bum time until end of season.

fudging amazing how this clubs fans went from top 4 as a goal lacked ambition -> well squad is brick, you can't expect us to beat Burnley and West Ham and Fulham

They were leading when tel came on as I remember it, Odobert one was a decent save but it was at a good height for the keeper, he never touched one from Simmons.
He made quite a few saves, mostly imo ones I would expect him to make.

We’ve only qualified once through the league for the Chsmpions League since Poch left. And it’s not 2 cup finals AND a Europa win. It’s 2 cup finals including a Europa win. And up until 2 seasons ago we still had Kane and Son.

I think if you take Kane and Son out of those sides we'd have likely been in a similar mess.

Looking back at those post Poch teams they were clearly being propped up two world class talents that we somehow managed to keep hold of.
