We ended up conceding 2 goals in the last 10 minutes due to taking off Kudus in midweek and a lot of people think that was the reason we lost in the end.
 
Very solid start. We were a bit wobbly from minute 20 to about mid-way through the second half, but that's understandable given the youth of that midfield.

That second goal settled us down, and after that it was a thoroughly professional performance.

Areas for improvement - we lack a real cutting edge through the middle, needing to rely on wing magic from Kudus or the quick break that got us our third. Hopefully Eze and/or Savinho solve that, or just Maddison and Deki returning. We also still give up some dangerous opportunities on the turnover, though far fewer than we did last year.

All in all, well done Frank and the lads - solid opening day, sends us home happy. Couldn't ask for more. :)
 
Better second half than first, perhaps partly Burnley getting worse, but still. Some lovely goals, clean sheet, some rust and shortcomings. Well done.

Either that or switch Bergvall and Sarr imo. Bergvall is quite good deeper at using the ball well, Sarr for his technical shortcomings gets up in support of and beyond the striker. Bergvall often gets a bit lost/invisible in the #10 role. Don't think he's quite figured out that role yet.

Or someone tell Gray he's actually quality on the ball and go out there to show it.

Just me or did Gray impose himself more on the game in the second half (until subbed). Thought he did better, but may just be me.
 
Very pleasing game, like how slick and professional we looked - all credit to Frank. He must be enjoying how much talent he has in the squad. Other thoughts... Spence impressed me in the air. Nice how integrated he is now too, looks happy these days. Gray was so much better second half, using and progressing the ball cleverly. It was a shame he was take off. Can only be one man of the match.
 
Good win but let's not get carried away. Burnley got into some good positions that better teams will punish.
Saying that, we had two teenagers and a 22 year old in midfield. Does bode well for the future. Good rotation by Frank.

Richy and Kudus will deservedly get the plaudits but thought Sarr had a good game too.
