*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa FC ***

You are one of the few posters I've ever seen suggest Bentancur could do a turn at centre half. I've said the same thing myself.

The forgotten man at the moment seems to be Bergval. I wonder if we could get him more involved rotating with Sarr and Bissouma, whilst utilising Bents as both a centre half and centre mid.

Ooh, a rare case (writes our pedantry correspondent) of the word "utilise" being used the way I use it. You can use an iron to iron your clothes or you can utilise it as a door-stop (i.e. for a purpose for which it was not designed).

This post is in memory of Paul Madeley, one of the few Leeds United players I did not hate (the other being Eddie Gray).

Sod's law mandates I have made several grammatical errors in this post.

But can one utilise an iron both to iron clothes and as a door stop? If not we cannot utilise Bentancur both as a CB and midfielder, only as a CB while we can also use him as a midfielder.

On a related note surely one can utilise the word utilise for a purpose different than the one it's intended for?

I hope you get I appreciate the pedantry.

I hope so. Just wary of our fans going from one extreme to the other. A week ago things looked very different.

We'll see how the rest of the season pans out.
Things might of looked different a week ago for the usual reactionary section who were talking about how its time to look at getting rid of Ange.

But for most rational fans, the story of the season is that we have been the better side for most games and results haven't gone our way - which can happen, but over the course of a season evens itself out. Lost to Saudi Sportswashing Machine away which we didn't deserve to, the Goons were fortunate to beat us at home, even against Brighton we were fantastic for 45 minutes. The second half against Brighton, and the Palace game apart I can't think of any league games where we were poor.

Things to improve on sure, but as the stats show we score goals for fun and one of the better defences in the process. A portion of fans wetting the bed after any defeat doesn't change the fact that any metric, and dare I say the good old fashioned eye test suggests we are well postioned for a decent season.....
