*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v APOEL ***

Can someone tell me the tactical benefit of 3 at the back here? It's not even as though we are mopping everything up. Wreaks of Llorente for me. We've created almost zero through the middle in 25 mins. The quicker u see a plan B the better

One advantage is that when we have the ball both full backs can play high up the pitch simultaneously so we can switch play from side to side quickly. If we were playing a back 4, they'd both hang back more

We play the way we play. When not counterattacking, it can look ponderous and less than direct. Usually we break through sooner or later, hopefully without yielding to a counterattack in the meantime. Slow and steady....

You mean normally. We don't get that with Trippier at LWB as he has to come back inside. Would be better to play Davies there and Trips in the back 3. Constantly coming inside plays into their hands. Davies could provide proper width.

Trippier needs to go on his left foot sometimes, just to make them guess a little more.

We'll win this though.

It wont happen, at least not before the 70th min, but GKN for Trippier would make sense to me. He's not doing much defensively and always has to cut back on to his right when going forwards

Yes, I mean normally - I thought that was the question. Foyth for Trippier, or GKN for Trippier would both solve this

Like a hot knife through concrete.

Hopefully Apoel get excited and come forwards... and we string together the 3 passes required to score.

Yep, I like that Winks tries to look for the forward ball and isn't afraid to try the difficult pass with potentially high reward
