I’m sure you are all aware that of the two legs of the CL semi we were ahead for a grand total of 2 mins 57 seconds. Unlike 1987 FA Cup final (and countless other times) we didn’t score too soon.

And Moura’s winner was the latest winning goal in a CL semi. I still have a semi.

In hindsight, I’m bloody delighted Jan didn’t score because I’m not sure I could have handled 7-8 minutes of hanging on. The 1-2 minutes we endured was more than enough.
 
Makes me fudging die all these salty fudgers coming out of the woodwork complaining about how the Champions League format is a crock of brick and should only be eligible to 'Champions'.

Haha, sore losers. It would obviously be a hell of lot easier for teams like Emirates Marketing Project vs Rosenborg, Malmø, Bratislava and whatever else rubbish out there, but who would want to watch that crap? Far better the way it is now. There's a reason for the champions league having the stature and magnitude it has now, and it sure as fudge isn't because minnow teams from the likes of Iceland and Estonia are in it. :p
 
It's funny. Our Champions League campaign so far is like a badly directed movie. You just wouldn't believe the plot twists if this was a movie. "Yeah, right, sure, they'll go through five mins before time by equalizing away to Barcelona ... right". "Ah, yeah, right, as if a VAR decision two minutes into injury time would save a team like that." "Ah, sure, another fudging massive plot twist, hat trick hero in 45 minutes, 5 minutes into injury time - suuuure, very realistic". It would be a terrible 90's sports movie! Let's just hope the narrative continues into the final. :D

I think that it should. Having more teams in it builds in inequality within domestic leagues and makes it harder for clubs to break through but you can only play the competitions as they are currently formatted and it is a huge achievement for us to get to the final. It's the biggest club game in world football and we are there. It is churlish for anyone to complain about rules that their clubs have also benefited from.

The title of the competition is a misnomer, one designed with marketing in mind. At the end of the day it's just a cup competition, but one that only the leading clubs in each European country can qualify for based on the historical strength of their leagues. In the same way that the top two divisions in England only enter the FA Cup at round 3, or the top PL clubs enter the League Cup at the later stages.

And if it's a fraud for non-champions to be allowed into the Champions League, what about the even bigger fraud of allowing only Group Stage flops to compete for a European trophy?
