*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v AFC Bournemouth ***

We had our knife and fork the wrong way round all game. Give the players half a chance - we got the ball to feet up front but they were in the wrong channels.

The midfielders perhaps could have exploited the vast space in the middle better - didn’t seem suited to running at pace and laying the ball off cleanly.

Was nowhere near as bad as made out.

I'm tired of these excuses tbh - we're rebuilding - you don't get everything you want or need in those circumstances, managers have to adapt and work with what they have sometimes - good managers deal with that.

There are posters here who are on one hand defending Ange saying he needs time to rebuild the team and several windows to do so while also knocking the club for not giving him everything he needs right away - which is it, are we rebuilding which takes time or are we not? Make your bloody minds up

I'll be as clear as I can with regards to my thoughts.

He needs time to rebuild, he needs two to three more windows IF we are going to continue with him.
When people like me knock the club for not giving him everything he needs, I'll add context. Ange does not ask for the same shedload of players and profiles a Mourinho or Conte would want, he does (however) want specific players for specific roles. I was excited when he 'won' the battle to sign VdV over Tapsoba (our football directorship wanted Tapsoba, Ange insisted on VdV for his pace and having a left-foot). Since then, we've had Johnson and Solanke as key position acquisitions. Who else? We have great young talent in Archie Gray, but right now, he is unable to develop in his best positions because we never adequetely addressed our FB or LCB squad issues. We appear to have told Ange to make Spence work, but for whatever reason Ange doesn't want to. If VdV isn't fit for Sunday, we may well have to play Gray at LCB again, which is absurd. I could go on.

Me? I'd give him the time.
But let's be honest, if we get thwacked on Sunday, the drums will be loud and the howling incessant. Levy can point to Munn as the reason Ange is here. And if he wants to appease whingers who don't want Ange, he will swoop in and make a change. I hope I'm wrong, because we've invested an awful lot of time and energy implementing the structure we have right now, and IMO, to change it would be so foolish. However, IF we want him to be successful, we have to blend the approach with regards to recruitment.

Now if you DON'T rate him as a manager/don't like what he is doing, I understand your frustration, but again, who do you blame for his appointment? Him? Of course not...anyway, a discussion I'm sure will be rolling around these parts for a while sadly...

Yes needed some shots from the midfielders. They tracked our attacking runs well. The space was there for a late run to the edge of the box and shot, we never found that run or exploited it.

Put it down to the thin squad. Thought we looked disjoined up top. Not quite in harmony. Maybe because the forwards are not as fresh as they should be.

To press and then perform when in possession, playing every few days, Ange needs a couple more bodies. Richarlison and Odbert have been big gaps in the squad.
Indeed, you can't ignore the amount of injuries and fatigue regardless of how every team gets injuries we are at the bare bones stage and running on fumes. No coincidence that we started well, but the longer the game went on the worse we got because we are knackered and couldn't cope....

I'm expecting the usual against Chelsea. We might put in some extra effort, but they'll score with every shot they have. What I can't accept would be poor performances against Rangers and Southampton next week. Screw those up and he can pack his things and leave immediately.

I'm really worried about Rangers. It'll be hostile (they'll be desperate to get one over on the ex-Celtic manager) and if we don't start well...

I don't think anyone has suggested we should be winning the league.

We shouldn't be bottom half and getting pumped every other week
When you have a small squad nowhere near big enough to play in both Europa and PL competition then this is what is likely to happen. Teams like Palace, Bournemouth and Fulham have good players and can get good results against you when they can outrun you due to being fresher.

I'm not sure anyone is knocking the club for not giving everything he needs right away. The worry is that the club will not give him the time and sack him and start again before they have given him everything he needs. That is our standard cycle that we repeat over and over.

-------------Lloris-------------

Walker/Trippier - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose

---------Demeble - Wanyama/Dier-------

---------Eriksen - Dele- Son-----

--------------Kane--------------

Ah, memories. Then we get Sissoko, Sanchez, Aurier, Foyth, Moura, N'Dombele, Lo Celso...

With some proper recruitment who knows what might have happened?

Those were the days, eh… back in Pochettino’s 2nd season…

Those are good calls. There are of course examples of players coming good, but there are more than enough examples of players coming in on a high note leaving on a low note without having done much of interest. Bent, Kanoute, Rebrov, Soldado, Lo Celso, Moura, N'Dombele, Bergwijn, Sissoko, Bentley, Adebayor, Jenas, all what I'd call marquee signings off the top of my head. But yeah, we've been good with quite a few youngsters and prospects.
Sissoko a marquee signing? No wonder we are brick!

I had to miss the game on Thurs night, due to a works Christmas do.
Unfortunately I had my phone stolen that night as well*.
So I woke up hungover on Friday morning with no clue what the score was. I put the TV on in the hotel and saw that the lead story on Sky News sports section was "Awful night for Spurs, Ange rowing with fans, terrible result" and I thought "oh my GHod, we got tonked 5-0 or something!"

1-0 away at Bournemouth is not an awful night; they are a good side at home and we are knackered.
I watched the game on Spurs PLAY last night.
Ange was frustratingly stupid to play Johnson left wing, that NEVER works, so we had 1 hand tied behind our back.
We had a few chances and failed to convert... that means that you generally lose the game, when away in the Prem.

Eventually as we tired, Ange threw on 73 attackers so we lost all shape and the game became chaotic.

*Beware men selling santa hats for £2 in pubs... he was lingering around and trying to sell hats to the girls and distractingly put a big pile of santa hats on the table, and when he left, my phone was gone. Stupid really, but beware ars*holes lingering in pubs.
