*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v AFC Bournemouth ***

Kick-off is 11pm in Japan, the first time I'll ever ring in a New Year watching Spurs. Hopefully it's a good end to 2023 and a good start to 2024.

3-1 win.
Picked the score but certainly not the way I imagined it. Strange game. Would have felt reasonable had we lost that 3-1. Bournemouth battered us for large parts, thought they well brilliant.

Great way to ring in the new year though. Great walk home from the pub at 1am, brand new year with 3 points and a beer for the walk.

Happy New Year from Osaka Spurs

Credit to the team.

Two days’ less rest than the opposition (again), multiple injuries going into and during the game, players playing out of position, going down to 10 late on. Missing starters through suspension (their own fault but affects the team of course.)

Sure, we rode our luck a bit, but equally Son and Richy could have had two each.

Difficult to change it up too much for the cup game bearing in mind the injuries but hopefully we’ll be back close to full availability by the end of January.

Add one or two quality signings in the windows and it should make it an interesting run in…

Get that chequebook out Levy!

It really is a good time to spend to protect the investment - to use terms Levy might employ. To be fair to him, we have had January purchases work out well recently.

To be three points off of top spot halfway through the season, with a manager and squad that are playing such a dynamic, entertaining brand of football, is a great achievement, especially given all the injuries we're coping with. Some might think we'll wind up with a bloated squad but plans have to be made for European involvement next year, so plenty of opportunities will lie ahead.

Dont think we can make a lot of changes for Burnley, Philips or Dragusin for Royal, Kulusevski back in, Johnson to cover Son maybe

They harp on about Saudi Sportswashing Machine, but they are getting players back and not getting more injured. We dont seem to gain, we get one back and then lose a different player

I make that back to 9 missing for Burnley, provided those knocks to Udogie and Royal are not serious

Van der Ven
Romero
Perisic
Sessegnon
Solomon
Bissouma (ACN)
Sarr (ACN or Injured)
Son (Asain Cup)
Veliz

Bentancur and Kulusevski will be back for Burnley which will help, plus fingers crossed a couple of new faces?
Don't worry, we'll put @AjaxDeSuperYids in charge for Burnley and play the embryo's

Can’t say that was a comfortable watch but I do feel proud of the players the way they held on. Frustrating at times as there were chances we should have put away and passes that should have been better executed but there is a real sense of playing as a team and once we have a few more starters back who knows where this season could take us (well, assuming it stops being one-back-one-out with injuries).
