OMT The Mighty Tottenham vs AFC Sportswash

Good week-end

- Spurs win against PL champions
- Scum lose to a promoted side that hasn't been in top flight since the 40's
- Lamela (sorry, still have a soft spot) comes on as a sub on his debut in La Liga and scores a brace, wins MotM

I'll take that

How did city have an Xg of nearly 2 considering they only hit the target 4 times with IMO relatively weak chances
Mist be the ones they spanked wide

Think the Mahrez one in the first half and Torres one in the second must have been a big chunk of that xg. Other than that we had them at arms length really.

Yup, and the early Fernandinho header when Lloris totally missed the ball.

Understat is good for xG - it shows you a ‘map’ of each chance, and if you click on any chance it tells you whose it was and in what minute.

There were some tasty challenges flying around in that game. Well reffed, as were other games this weekend, hopefully a sign for the season to come. If we play PEH and Skipp it could benefit us because those two are a brick wall in front of our CBs.

Not sure I agree, Sterling and Grealish got quite few soft fouls (that's being really kind, they fudging dive all the time)

City got a lot of benefit on any 50/50, crowd was on ref most of the match because of it.

I'm with you the ref from the Manchester area was pretty awful
The amount of ridiculous soft fouls he gave them mainly in the first half was unreal
It was good to see our players in his ear though and I felt he wasn't so City biased in the second half

My first trip to the new Lane and first game since Wembley. And the first time I’ve been in any sort of crowd for 18 months.
What a place, what an atmosphere, and what a performance!
Thanks to everyone who was there. Each and every one of you (along with the guys on the pitch) made it truly a day to remember.

For those that couldn’t make it, some views from my nosebleed seats:

There was a point in the game where City had the ball by the halfway line and they just stopped and looked at each other because they didn't have a clue what to do.

As has been said already, their normal tactic of playing through the middle was being denied them, and they knew that as soon as they lost the ball we would break on them.

fudging hell, what a stat

23 dropped points, if we held on for 11 of those we would have been 4 points clear in 3rd, hold on for all, one point behind City

It definitely didn't feel the same as last season when we took the lead. Even though we could have sat back, it still felt as though we carried more counter attack threat than the dark days under Jose.

Great OMT, nailed it, all about the bare chested Goldblum for me!

*I love hindsight

Just watched a replay of the full game, wanted to chip in by saying, in addition to all the plaudits for Tanganga, Lucas, Sanchez et al a special shout out on how well Skipp grew into the game, very impressed and very happy another academy player has come through, well done young man.

But overall the togetherness is there, the commitment, we just need to keep rolling on and build up the momentum into all competitions again.

A clean sheet, Dier and Sanchez looked fab, very composed - and the VAR and refereeing clear up of the rules has made it the game we love, we got The Beautiful Game back, thanks to the Euros.
