OMT The Mighty Tottenham vs AFC Sportswash

I’m pretty sure most of this forum has always said Dier and Sanchez make a formidable partnership:D….

I was in foul humour when I saw the team. Thought I'd be watching from behind the couch through my fingers for the afternoon. When Dav threw in that last challenge, I'd gone full circle and was pretty much saying "Knew he'd do that. Always had faith in the big man. What else were you expecting?"

Great performance from the pair of them. Much better than I ever thought they could be.

Early days but the main difference seemed to be Skipp, we haven’t had a solid midfield base since Wanyama and Dembele. Our defence looked comfortable, that can’t be a coincidence

Very good point. He really grew into it after an iffy first 10 minutes.

Agreed, nothing seems to faze Skippy. Very calm, confident unflustered player. I think he'll be a fixture for us and an outside change for World cup 2022 squad.

I worry about the balance in midfield against weaker teams. I thikn we need one or both of GLC and Ndombele in there, or another creative player

It certainly worked today, whether that’s ok when the ball is on the other foot and we need to be pushing the play is another matter. Great to have a proper defensive minded partner for Hojberg when needed though.

Got back from the game myself, two main points

- Every player played for the shirt today, something I haven't seen in probably two years
- Despite City being a very good team, we tore them apart quite regularly with our breaks

I'll add more after, but yes the atmosphere was off the charts as well

Calmed down a bit, but my word today was just effing beautiful.

hugo 7 - not a fan, but today he was captain like and solid in all aspects.

reggie 6.5 - some good runs and dogged defensively.

Dier 7 - some vital interceptions, showed excellent concentration and worked in tandem in a solid defensive display.

Sanchez - 8 has the penny dropped, beastly today and ferocious in the tackle, gets lots of stick on here but we cannot ignore it when he’s as good as he was today.

Tanganga - 10 unbelievable today, simply beautiful display, when we were under the cosh early on it was his dogged desire that inspired others and pulled us through, reminds me of Keane, no nonsense and loves the battle, has the physicality to back it up.
Don’t ship him off to Turkey, pray he stays fit, because we won’t need to spend a fortune on a new right back.

hoijberg 8 - I want him as captain, supreme fight, and got us going into some great counter opportunities we should have made more of.

Skippy 8 - nightmare start but found his groove and got better as the match wore on and belief kicked in. Fought like arsholes next to the Dane.

Dele 7 - got better as the game went on, defensive wise he worked hard, attacking wise he contributed well to our counters.

Steve 7 - ran with the ball at pace, worked hard and should have made the game safe for us, played his part.

moura 9 - road runner, meep, meep done amazing things today, drove us forward, leapt like a salmon for headers, just all round lovely performance.

Son 7 - always made himself an option but poor decision making in the first half, got it right in the second and made me celebrate like a lunatic.

lo celso 6.5
Doherty 6.5

nuno - 10

fans - 10 x infinity

have some of that city, we are Tottenham!

Of course we shouldn't... but at least it offers genuine promise that if he goes we can still do well without him. I do not think it was a coincidence that without our talisman, all the players rolled up their sleeves and played like a TEAM!
For one match, of course they can do that. For a whole season, not so much.
